NBEO--National Board of Examiners in Optometry, it's a licensure exam

LOR--Letter of Recommendation

NBEO: National Board of Examiners in Optometry. Here's a description, straight from the horse's mouth: http://www.optometry.org/exam_descriptions.cfm
Basically, think of this as the mother of all tests for OD candidates.

LOR: Letter of Recommendation. Pretty much all schools require that you send them 2-4 letters of rec.

You have to check with each individual school you're applying to. I'm sure they all have different policies on that issue.

Hey, Stompy, guess I was typing as you were posting *smiles*...

CLEP is an acronym for College Level Examination Program. Passing a CLEP test may allow you to earn college credit for skills and knowledge you already possess

Wow, sweet, you could actually skip college. *drools*

you should call/email the admissions office for specific schools you're interested in. Then you'll know for sure what the policy is. Berkeley might not be super-prompt at responding, but they eventually will. I recommend making a list of q's before contacting the schools.

I've never heard of CLEP, but it sounds pretty cool. Regarding Berkeley, I would definitely call the admissions office like polkadot said. Try to call during their hours, which might be different from you if you're in a different time zone. I had to call several times each day and they never responded to my emails or messages. Just keep on trying!!! But once you get ahold of them, they're pretty nice about answering all your questions.

Polkadot: Hahah...that's funny how you included co-op cop. 🙂 BTW, I nominated you for president!
