I am currently in the Air Force and have been a dental lab technician for the last 7 years. I am working hard on getting into a dental school. right now I am working on completing the prerequisites, it is a slow process but I could apply in 2010. Right now I have a 3.7 GPA cumm. and a 3.5 Science GPA. I am a very non-traditional student and I am just curious on how much this will be to my disadvantage. If there is any advice you can offer me I am open to all suggestions. I have high recommendations from all the dentists I work with so basically what are my chances. 🙂

I don't see the problem in your situation 🙂

I dont see any disadvantage to your situation. Provided you get good DAT scores, you should have a good shot.

I'm pretty much in the same boat. I've got my B.S. in Education and all the prereqs but I didn't think I was competitive enough because I wasn't carrying the same course load as traditional students. Plus, most of my prereqs were taken at a CC due to its close proximity to the base and all the night classes that were offered. I'm still going to try again this year after I re-take the DAT, but I'm now steering towards Pharmacy School since it seems (key word seems) a little easier to get into considering you only technically need 2 years of college. I just want to get commissioned at this point!!
