Should I indent or just leave spaces between paragraphs?

Neither.

One line space between paragraphs, no indent. Indents cost you too many precious characters.

This was the format my sister used last year and she got into several schools. This is also the format that I used this year.

I left a blank line in between my paragraphs, it worked out fine. I think it's hard to read if there's not some separation of the paragraphs.

All one block with a single period at the very end.

I put a blank line between paragraphs too. Seems to be the easiest way that looks good and doesn't take up too many characters.
