Hi, as some of you may know, I tried to get contacts (again).

I went to the optician and got Acuvue advance for astigmatism 2 week trials.

Left: D: -5.50 cyl: -1.25 axis: 170
Right: D: -4.50 cyl: -1.25 axis: 170

The focus seems to be fine, but there seems to be an invisible line at the TOP of my contacts that cause my vision to have glare/blur when I'm reading on the computer or under fluorescent lights.

I asked the optician and he said there's nothing that can be done. Is this because of my astigmatism b/c other people didn't seem to have this problem...Thanks!

How did you get a prescription for contacts from an optician... I thought that was illegal... Anyways, maybe you want to visit an optometrist or an ophthalmologist, they may be able to solve your problem..

I tried the acuvue advance for astigmatism and i don't think they are all that great. the optometrists that i work for also do not really like the acuvue advance for astigmatism contact lenses...i currently use the Proclear Toric and I think the visual acuity and comfort on these lenses are much better than the AA. One of the reasons the doctors don't like the AA at the office where I work at is because many patients complain that the visual acuity is just not as great as it is with other toric lenses. I don't think this really answers your question but I just thought I'd insert my two cents on the AA lenses.

I personally don't fit many Proclear Torics because of the fact that they are planning on changing the toric design. Coopervision themselves would prefer that you fit other toric brands because of the rotaional instability that is sometimes noted with PC Toric. I love Proclear spheres and can't wait for them to redesign the Toric to an Encore Toric or Biomedic Toric design. Those two and SL66 Toric are great Torics. For those who want the silicone hydrogel advantage, try the Purevision Toric .... after you adapt to the material it's a great lens.

He took it off my glasses then prescribed me contacts.

Thanks to the rest for the advice. I'm thinking of going elsewhere to try it once I get my prescription from the optometrist.
