when viewed from the occlusal, the basic coronal outline of a mandibular second premolar is?
a) square
b) circular
c) rhomboidal
d) pentagonal according to the key
e) rectangular

which of the following structures calcifies first in an anterior tooth?
a) cingulum
b) cervical ridge
c) marginal ridge
d) incisal edge according to the key
e) root apex

The first question sucks. In the normal 3 cusped mand 2nd premolar, I would call the shape square. That's what it looks like. Thats what the decks say. Thats what first aid says. However the ADA key says the answer is pentagonal??????????? is this a mistake in the key?

Second question. I thought that cusp tips on posteriors and cingulums on anteriors were the first to calcify. Can someone clear this up for me?

Third question:
sort of random but. Does someone have a good way to remember crosstooth, crossbite, crossarch contacts?

check out this mandibular second bicuspid. its a Y shaped 3 cusp premolar. since the buccal cusps are lingually incline and are broad it gives the occlusal table a pentagon appearance. I think the only other pentagon appearance occlusal table is the man 1st molar
