E.g., When a passage presents a certain gene using the following terminology:
LHP^(+/+) and NBM^(-/-)
The +/+ and -/- are intended to be superscripts. I think it implies that the gene is present if its +/+ and not present if its -/-. However, why are there two +'s and two -'s? Is that to indicate each allele of a gene? In other words, if you had the gene LHP^(+/-), this would indicate that one of the alleles of the gene is not present?
