why does the aldol condensation convert the carbonyl to an OH, but the claisen condensation doesnt?
on fischer projections----- does CHO have priortiy of C-OH-CH because the aldehyde carbon is ranked as 2 0xygens C:: OOC versus C: OCC
- again, for a fischer projection, if a compound is meso, for example a 5 carbon fischer- carbon 3 is meso if it has the same groups above and below it- does it matter if the groups above or below are on the left or right side.. i mean

CHO CO2H
H---------OH R H-----------------OH R

OH----------H Meso?? vs. H-----------------OH Meso???

OH----------H R H------------------OH S or is this not meso because of the CONFIGS?

for the priorities, the carbonyl carbon will have priority because it is bonded essentially to the 2 carbons via the double bond

Relax, this is the day before your exam.

You're worrying about one question that may or may not show up on the test. It's not going to affect your score.

Close your prep materials, go watch a funny movie, have some good laughs and be confident.

I really wise someone could do a study to see if it is better to study the day before your exam or just to go out and have some fun. My exam is Tuesday morning, so I need to decide what I am going to do on Monday relatively shortly.

As of now here are my plans:
Today- Study all day obviously
Sunday- Take Practice DAT 2009, look over mistakes. Review DAT 2007.
Monday- Still torn between taking the day off or doing a light study. I am either going to hang out with a friend and watch a movie or something. Or look over the old DATs one more time, read my Bio notes 1 more time and do Chads practice Quizzes one more time.

Decisions, decisions....

you got this buddy, i expect great things. If the DAT had a butthole you would be yelling at it.
