How's it going everybody?

One of my LOE writers has been lagging and he won't have my letter ready for me until next week. My question is would it be faster for me to have the career center at my school send the LOEs directly to each dental school or do the dental schools require the LOEs be sent from AADSAS?

I was also thinking of having the career center send the LOEs to all of the dental schools and also to AADSAS. Is that a bad idea?

Thanks for any help. I really appreciate any knowledge on this subject.

A lot of schools say (on their websites) to send the LORs to AADSAS only and not to send them directly. You'll have to look them up yourself cause it's too much to go through, but just check the application procedures section of their site. I called a whole bunch of these same schools and asked them if I can send directly via my school's letter service. They almost all said they didn't care, just get the letters in. UCSF was an exception. They insist on AADSAS only, all else be damned. Soooooooo, my school had to change their policy and also send my file of LOR to AADSAS so that it can be fowarded to UCSF. But now all the other schools are going to get duplicates from AADSAS. Some of the websites ask that you don't send in duplicate info. but I was kinda stuck. I guess I might end up annoying a few people in the admissions dept but I doubt they're gonna put my app in the circular file b/c of it. If you really need to save time it may be worth sending them directly to the schools. When AADSAS received my LOR file, it took them 2 weeks to send it to the schools.

The current system really doesn't work well. I understand the schools don't want bits and pieces of the app floating in over a long period of time, but they should all accept files from letter services. Who else is going to hold your letter for you for >1 year?

I am almost done with my application (rather late compared to everybody on here) and I was wondering who were the best people to get the letters of evaluation from? Science teachers at college, present supervisor at work or the dentist I shadow?

Thanks for all your help.

All of the above.
I got 2 from science professors, 1 from my manager at work, and 1 from a dentist i shadowed. AADSAS only holds 4 letters.

Agreed with all of the above. I tried to ask people that knew me at several different levels: Academically (who could verify that I performed very well in the class), in a work environment (who could comment on my work ethic and what i did), and on a personal level (who could comment on my character). That seemed to be the most logical approach in my opinion. More specifically I asked 2 professors I was a teaching assistant for, a dentist who knows me very well and I have shadowed, my PI in the lab I work in, and my supervisor during my volunteer experience. (This was all submitted to a Pre-Health committee)

Hope this helps...I'm an amateur at this stuff so I'll let you know if it works!

is this still the best advice? i really want to send the required dentist letter to the schools that have already started sending out invites and let the others wait to get it from AADSAS. Is this OK OR does duplicates really look that bad?

Plus these other schools won't hold my app until they get it if it's not a required letter for them right?
