I currently have no letters of recommendation/shadowing and that's one of the things I need to sort out before applying in the 2017/2018 cycle. I have attempted many times to shadow a primary care DO, but every time it has either fallen through or I've been denied. There's a really nice anesthesiologist at where I volunteer who I'm considering asking to let me shadow (I'm legit interested in the field) and I would also shadow my MD family physician if he'll let me (same hospital, also legit interested in the field). Here's the question:

Would I be looked down upon if I got a DO letter of rec from a non-primary care physician if I shadowed a MD primary care physician as well? I think I might be overthinking things, but many of the schools I have high hopes for have hardcore primary care missions, and I don't want to put myself at a disadvantage by having a letter of rec from a DO that isn't in that field. I guess I could try to get one from both?

You are def. over thinking it

I am not a physician but I can definitely diagnose you with SDN premed neurotic syndrome. On a real note, as long as your LoRs are strong and from a physician (DO or MD), then there's nothing to worry about.

Is there a club where we meet up? It'd be like a fun club but instead we criticize the weaknesses in our apps and talk about how we won't get in since we didn't take the time to start our own charities.

EDIT: Just remembered Taco Bell put a little card in my bag that said they were hiring at tacocareers.com, but even then I have only made tacos in my house and don't have any restaurant or non-restaurant related volunteer work. What am I even cut out for now?
