Quick Navy pay question: ISP

Apologies. I've tried searching this forum and checking various Navy sites, but every description for ISP left me a little unclear.

Does ISP only start post-residency, or is this like ASP, given to all physicians not in internship/residency. In other words, is ISP applicable for GMOs?

This is from the Navy Medical Corps Detailing website:

Incentive Special Pay (ISP) ? Paid to all physicians NOT in internship or initial residency. It is a lump sum bonus for which you agree to remain on active duty for a year. The bonus varies based on the inventory of specialists in the Department of Defense (not just in the Navy). It is computed each year and comes out in a Tricare Management Activity Policy paper from the Office of the Secretary of Defense, the subject of which is ?Fiscal Year "XX" Medical Officer Special Pays.? This doesn't answer the question posed by mikematto, there's no GMO category on the chart. Any Navy docs have some word on this??

Apologies, last post. Does anyone in the Navy have any understanding as to whether ISP (Incentive Special Pay) is given to post-internship, pre-residency GMOs/DMOs/FS's?

The language on the military's web site is unclear, though the fact that ISP is charted out according to specialty makes me think that it's only given to those board certified. Any input, leads, or info would be greatly appreciated.

ISPs are only for those who have residency training and are credentialled to practice in that specialty some where.....

GMOs do not receive ISPs unless they are a residency trained physician credentialled to practice that specialty somewhere but decided to take a GMO billet for whatever reason...

So, in short, if you have not completed a residency, you will not receive the ISP for that specialty.
