I have been looking at their academic requirements page on their website. Where it says "Social Sciences (other) - 4 semesters", do they actually mean I need 4 semesters of social sciences? What do they mean by (other)? Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

In addition, do most schools accept history classes as social science courses?

i also asked the school prior to applying, and they told me that yes, you do need 4 semesters of social sciences (ie: anthroplogy, earth sciences, human ecology, etc...). be sure to differentiate social sciences and humanities (ie: philosophy, classics, etc...). good luck! 🙂

I'm guessing this 4 semesters of social science is for people who will not have completed a bachelors degree by the time the first year of Optometry.

For applicants who will have a bachelors degree, this is not a requirement according to their academic admissions requirement page.

I'm guessing this used to be a requirement but is not anymore? Or maybe this requirement pops up during the application process (which I have no knowledge of)? Unless I've misunderstood the website... OperaticPreOD/ariel winter, can you guys clarify?

Right from your link:
"Students who have not earned a Bachelor Degree may be awarded the Bachelor of Science degree by the College, provided they have completed 12 semester hours of humanities, 12 semester hours of social sciences, and have met other requirements set forth by the College."

So that only applies to applicants without a bachelor's who want to earn that degree in addition to their OD upon graduation.
