So for all those who know, my gpa is not the greatest, especially in the science. Today I got back one of my test for this bug class I am taking, it was a real stinker for everyone, and he is not going to curve! basically even with extra credit I would still get a C on the test....soooooo heres the thing

At first I thought I was going to do something with bugs, but after sitting down with my new advisor I will be taking alot of comparitive NPB courses, NOTHING WITH BUGS....so this class really doesn't do anything for me. With the chance of messing up my GPA, and haveing to spend time on a class that will not do me any good for my major in the future, should I just drop it? Or should I stick it out? I have not dropped any classes in the past 3 years and it would be the first UC class I drop.....I don't want some class that doesnt even do anything for me to bring my GPA down even more...What I can't believe is that he is not curving! The average was 60%! and that is with a couple of premeders getting 90%!! Let me know!

Update: can't drop it, but can change to no pass pass, should I do that instead then? Thanks!

Pass/ no pass option sounds like a good plan to me.

Pass/no Pass is your friend. 👍

Med schools are unlikely to ask you about that class anyway. And even if they do, just say that it was for 'personal enrichment'.

But with pass/no pass, don't you have to get like a 75 or 80% for a pass?

Not here, the pass is 70%, plus I will still be doing work to pass the class, but dont want some stupid B hanging over my head cause the teacher is new and doesnt know how things really work here you know? Thanks you guys for all your help!

I once did P/NP and ended up getting an 'A' in a class I feared because I thought I would do horrible in (it really was a personal enrichment class). Anyway, that turned to a P obviously.

Take P/NP if you are afraid your GPA will drop, but be prepared to work. The sad thing is I haven't learned to differentiate what I need to do to get a good grade from what I need to do to just pass. Who knows. I guess it could work either way.

Anyway, in your case, I would just take P/NP.
