what is this second fold? i'm seeing it for the first time and i dont understand it. how does it maintain the same shape (triangle) but now it has a crease down the middle? can anyone enlighten me please

what they did was fold it 1/2 way then after that the 1/2 that one two which you understand till that point so how they got the crease was that the fold you just made they lifted that little pice back up making it a crease... its easier to see if you have a paper in front of you and do it ... then you can really see what then did

Alright, so ill try to explain it the best i can. The first image is a diagonal half fold (bottom left corner to top right). the second image (first fold) is taking that top left corner of the first image and folding it on top of the bottom right corner to get that triangle. now, if you think about it, there are actually two layers here. so what they did for that second fold was take that top layer and fold it over on itself (to get the same over all shape but now with one layer on the bottom half and two layers on the top half). it really helps if you get a piece of paper and actually do it.

don't you mean the second image is taking that top left corner of the first image and folding it on top of the TOP RIGHT CORNER? instead of the bottom right corner as you said?

No, it is folding it from the top left corner to the bottom right corner. Get a piece of paper and try it, that is the best way to see most of these problems if anyone gets stuck.
