Hey guys,
Three fair coins are tossed at the same time what is the probability that all three coins will come up heads or will come tails?
thanks

the answer should be 12.5% if i remember my stats right its been awhile since I've done that stuff. I'll double check it and get back to you. But as I recall you take the probabilty of each one happening (.5) and then multiplying them together. .5*.5*.5=.125

Hi:

Podarski is right with answer. but it can also done with fractions. some time answer will be in fraction.
1/2*1/2*1/2=1/8

I'm not sure if the OP posted the original question or re-wrote it. If the question is all heads OR all tails, the answer should be 1/8 + 1/8, which is 1/4. One of the ways to do this kind of prob is to list out all the possible outcomes (Don't worry the questions they would ask on DAT are listable). If you do so, they would be HHH, HHT, HTH, HTT, THH, THT, TTH, TTT.

Prob = Desired/Total = 2/8 = 1/4

if you are looking for the probabily that both hhh or ttt could ocur luder98 is correct is would be twice that of the probabily of just HHH or TTT wich is 1/4 or 25%.
