quick question about AACOMAS

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
AACOMAS requires you to enter semester hours for your coursework. Semester hours are the same thing as semester units or credit. If you have taken any courses at quarter colleges you have to convert to semester hours but they have a table under the help section that helps you convert. Hope this helps. Good luck

so, say, i took a 4 credit class. for "semester hours" i would write 4 or would i write the total number of hours i spent in that class?

thanks for the prompt reply

definitely not the hours spent in class cause for some classes, I never went to lecture because they were pointless and that wouldn't look great on the apps. So if you took a 4 semester course, put down 4 hours buddy not the time spent in the actual class.

got it guys. thanks.

ok two more questions.

1.) what do i put for classification? say i took this class, got an average grade, and nothing special. What do i classify this as?

2.) Also, I have some AP chem credits that i took in high school i need to put in, what do i put for course level? the only choices are freshman-senior. also what do i put in for where i took them? i didnt take them at college, but i cant seem to list it at taking the class while in high school?

ok you probably didn't check the instructions section for each section you have to fill outfor AACOMAS application but check that and it will have for the most part all you need to know to fill out the app. as for your question, i believe classification is whether you had to repeat, withdraw, P/NP, etc. If you just took the class and did not repeat it, then you put "none." but if you had to repeat it or is under another classification, put that such as P/NP or withdrawal. For your second question, I don't have the answer. The help desk at AACOMAS is very helpful and are easy to contact when they're open. Try that too. Good luck

👍 A lot of those info can be found in the instructions.

yeah thanks for the info guys. i have one more question and i couldnt find the answer on the website. when i was a freshman, we had two semesters: fall 2002, spring 2003. and then for soph, it was fall 2003, spring 2004. and so on. however, when i did amcas, it would list my second semester of freshman year as "second semester 2002". but i didnt take the second semester in 2002, technically. how do i enter it into AACOMAS? would it be spring 2002 or spring 2003 for my freshman year?

also, if i took 2 classes over the summer, but the first one was during one month and then the second one was during the following month, do i enter it in the same summer session? the two classes are physics I and II and right now it seems i took them at the same time, when i actually took physics I in july and II in aug.

thanks.
