Hey guys,

I'm planning on sending out my application early June. I've taken all the pre-req's and have graduated but my MCAT score wasnt' good at all (18). I'm re-taking the MCAT june 15th and the results will probably come out by july 15th so will AACOMAS send my app to med schools before my results come back or wait until they receive my results from the june 15th MCAT and then send it to the med schools? Thank you so much!!

Pretty sure they do not wait for the next MCAT. That being said you will be able to mark on the app that you are taking the June MCAT so schools will know you are trying to better your score.

You might want to consider waiting until you get your new scores from MCAT. There will be a lot of good applicants with solid MCATs in the beggining (June) and you don't want to receive any outright rejections prior to getting you scores back. It's not June but July is still early enough in the game that should you do better on the MCAT, and the rest of your app is solid you'll have a much better chance.

Thanks guys, but what does it mean when AACOMAS puts your application on hold? When does this apply? Thank you! 🙂

Most schools would put your application on hold pending a supposedly better MCAT unless your MCAT was sufficient already.

I have heard of outright objections, but if you indicate that you are taking the MCAT again, they would put you on hold. With the new MCAT format, it takes only a month to get back.

Thanks guys, but what does it mean when AACOMAS puts your application on hold? When does this apply? Thank you! 🙂

I know of two instances when this happens.

1) When there's a bottleneck effect due to a great amount of AACOMAS applications being submitted.

2) When you did not send in all of your transcripts needed for verification of your grades.

I would get my app in as early as possible myself. It will take AACOMAS 4-6 weeks to verify your transcript after getting it. If you haven't sent in your UG transcript, do so as soon as possible. If you get the transcript sent in a couple of weeks you are looking at around 6 weeks for your app to be verified.

So if I sent my application on June 20th, it would be verified by AACOMAS between july 20th and august 4th-ish. Meanwhile, my scores would be back to me by july 15th. So if i send my scores on July 16th, would that be enough time for AACOMAS to update my new MCAT score BEFORE they send it to med schools? Thanks guys and sorry if i'm being annoying I'm just really frustrated and stressed. 🙁

Not sure why you are worried. The worst that will happen, as Hema has said is that the schools will wait for your new scores to come in before they look at your app. IMO just get all the stuff to them so that you dont have to wait for it all to get there after you have received your MCAT score back. Just send it as fast as you can and if you send your app early you will still be ahead of many canidates and have a good chance at being looked at early (by the time your new MCAT scores are received).
