I apologize but I can't seem to find the answer I'm looking for in the AMCAS instructions, maybe I'm skimming too fast but I figured this would be faster.

Can I send my transcript (or have my school send it to be exact) before I have submitted my application? I am not even close to finishing my personal statement, but would like the transcript verification process to begin so that I'm not waiting on them for 6 weeks after I finish my personal statement. Or is that not how this works?

Also, once the transcript has been verified, letters of rec. have been received by AMCAS, and my personal statement is entered, I'll be waiting for my MCAT score, once the score is in and AmCAS is automatically updated, does this mean I can then submit to a school and they will literally have it the next day or so? I plan to apply ED, but my test score won't be back until the last week of July, giving me only about a week of wiggle room, just want to make sure this will all be executed correctly.

I thought you were supposed to send it before submitting otherwise the process can not begin (i have a similar question). I also think you can not submit until everything is completed in the AMCAS app (correct if wrong pls 🙂 )

This would all be so clear if they would just give us 2 or 3 hypothetical timelines that chronologically tell me what I need to do. I'm an engineer, give me a flow chart!

Found this. so you can submit without your transcripts but it seems you should send your transcripts to amcas ASAP regardless of when you submit.

Once you submit your application to AMCAS, you will receive an acknowledgment of its receipt via e-mail (provided you have included a valid e-mail address). Such acknowledgment does not indicate that your materials (i.e., official transcripts) are complete or that deadline requirements have been satisfied.

When are transcripts due?

You must initiate your application before sending transcripts to AMCAS.

AMCAS starts accepting transcripts the day the application cycle opens. Transcript deadlines are 14 calendar days after the school's AMCAS application deadline date. For example, if School A's application deadline is October 15, their transcript deadline is October 29. The only exception to this rule is for transcripts in support of an Early Decision Program (EDP) application, which are due on August 1. Use the Transcript Request Form, which you can generate from within your application, so your transcripts can be easily matched to your application.

Transcripts must be received by the following dates:

Early Decision Program applications: August 1
Regular applications: 14 calendar days after the school's stated application deadline, by 5 p.m. ET.

If the transcript deadline falls on a weekend or holiday, materials are due on the following business day. Transcripts should be accompanied by the Transcript Request Form, which is located within the AMCAS Application.

as for your last question, i dont know 😛

AMCAS needs your transcripts to verify your app, so that process won't begin until they have all of them. You could have started requesting them as soon as the application opened 05/08 and you received your ID # and added the school.
