Quick question about BU secondary

So I find that all my postings tend to be the relatively stupid/straight forward questions... so apologize to all of you "SDNers" out there... I swear I have insightful thoughts from time to time 😉

Ok so anyway.. for those of you that are taking just one year off b4 medical school:

The BU letter asks for "an explanation of any gaps in the sequence of your education, including any time between graduation from college and application to medical school"

So does that mean they want info on what we're planning to do during our year off? Cuz technically thats AFTER our application to medical school... perhaps matriculation to medical school would have been more precise... but what do you all think?

If a school gives you the opportunity to add to your application you should always take it. Even though it's only been two months since graduation for me I wrote about what I've been doing in my job since then and what I hope to have complished before I start med school in August. I also mentioned things like my volunteer work and other ECs.

come on, summer break doesn't count as a break in your education.

Geez, I sometimes worry about you guys. The question is clear. They want to know what happened that caused you to take a year or two off from school, if you did. But to write about your summer break is sad.

Yeah I wasn't really asking if I should include what I've done this past summer but whether they are asking for information on what I'm doing during my year off....

I mean the question asks for explanation in a break in study... which includes "post graduation to time of application"... so does that mean since I'm applying now... they don't consider me to have taken a break (even thought I'm taking this next year off from school)? Or do they want to know what I'm doing during my year off and they just worded it weird?

Thats more of the question I had I guess.

im in the same situation you are shorty, i'm going to add a letter stating what I intend to do for this upcoming year and just cross my fingers that i get the position that I tell the about.

like the others said, its a way to add to the app. and if your doing something special could set you apart for the rest of the pack.
