Hi all, I wasn’t sure whether to create a new thread or add this in on current threads about starting school. Incoming M1. I’m a non traditional student - married with kids. We haven’t heard from our school with regards to fall semester being online or not but I wonder if shadowing may be more difficult. Hopefully it will not be. I have previous hospital experience and am interested in lots of different specialties- anything from primary care to anesthesia to radiology. I have had limited exposure to many fields from work but would like to learn more about them from a physician perspective. What are other recommended ways of gaining experience? Student interest groups? Anything else? Thank you!

Your first semester you will be primarily concerned with keeping up with volume and adjusting your study routine. Shadowing opportunities may be coordinated through your school, and you will likely be provided information about that when school starts.
