Quick question about grad plus loans.

I have some savings that can covers 3/4 of my living expenses for the next academic year.

If I need to borrow money for the last 1/4, do I have to borrow at the beginning of the academic year or can I wait until I come close to running out of my own funds?

I want to wait to save on a few months of interest but if it's too much of a hassle, I'll just borrow now.
