hey guys!

just wondering if after we finish the NBME self-assessment we can review the questions we got wrong? also, does anyone know if they provide explanations to the questions once our time is up?

thanks!!

The answer to both of your questions is, no.

You aren't given the correct answer key, or explanations. However when I took the practice test I selected the extended time form and looked up some the questions I didn't understand.

thanks for the info! btw, did you find the NBME questions to be similar to the real exam?

I just took the first part of step 3 yesterday, and yes for the most part the questions were similar.

I had mostly short questions on the NBME, however I was surprised at the length of some of the Step 3 questions.

oh my lord, i just finished day 1 today and it was PAINFUL!!! the nbme questions were helpful to some extent but the test itself was longer, harder, and just plain PAINFUL!!!

i thought the inpatient/ER sections were harder than the outpt sections...does anyone know if the blocks on the second day are just outpt or is there more inpt/ER to look forward to?!

I just took day 2. Yes, it is a mix of inpatient/ER and office blocks.

One thing about the CSS, some of the cases ended really quick! I had a woman 38 weeks, with LE edema, high blood pressure and came to the ED after having a seizure at home.

Eclampsia! Well after getting the OB consult, ordering the appropriate labs and starting hydralazine and mag and case ended after like 30 minutes of "virtual" time, and about five minutes of real time. I hope that went OK.
