I did research this using the search fuction--but didn't find that much info.

I know that PharmCAS gives you 4,500 characters including spaces to fit your personal statement in--but does it really NEED to be that long?

What word count is good for our personal statements?--not that I want to do the minimum by ANY means--but I read that you should keep them simple at about 500 words--is there any truth to this?

Thanks for your time!

(and I'm sorry if this has been asked a billion times before :scared: )

Stop apologizing so much...if you have a question just ask and the heck with anyone that has something mean to say. As far as the word count, you should always try to use the maximum that they allow you to have. That doesn't mean you ramble on about nothing for 4500 words. Keep in mind that this is most likely the only essay some schools will get. You want to make sure and talk about yourself and all your accomplishments and make use of your space. If you're below the 4500 mark, then that is your choice. Good luck. :luck:

I'm having trouble keeping it under 4500 characters!

Actually 4500 characters isn't that much longer than 500 words. I'm not finished with it yet, but mine is about 3400 characters and 540 words so far. And remember that length isn't everything. If you've said what you want the admissions committee to know, that's probably long enough!

The fcuks at UB told me one of the reasons I didn't get in is my statement was too short. How the **** are we supposed to know what they want? They tell you to fcuking write something about yourself. Do they want a few sentences about why you love pharmacy, or your autobiography? THROW ME A FRICKING BONE HERE, PEOPLE.

Sorry, bitter. 😳
