Hey, I'm currently an undergrad that's majoring in computer science but i always wanted to pursue a career in medicine. Anyways long story short, i transfered schools after freshmen year and the new school im going to have a lot more pre req classes required for computer science so i had to take up extra courses like calc 2 and statistics etc.

After looking at my degree plan, i noticed i might not make it in time for my major and to fulfill DO school reqs at the same time unless i maybe take summer school. I tried talking to my councilor about it but he wasn't helpful.

What do you guys think i should do in this situation?

Also do writing classes count as the english comp class req? I'm not sure if they count or not.

Thanks again.

You can always take your pre-med requirements after you graduate, or at community colleges, or online through UNE, or during your summers. Just remember GPA is going to be one of the most important aspects of your application, so don't load up your semesters so that you burn out or do poorly.

If you decide to shoot for MD programs though, you really should take the pre-reqs at a 4 year school, and not graduate on-time.

Ok sounds good. There is a local MD school here that takes the majority of local applicants. Their average GPA last year i think was around 3.6, I have that currently but with courses like calc 2 and such i don't think ill be able to maintain that realistically. I'm most likely going to be at a 3.2 or 3.4 and i don't think that will be good enough GPA wise for an MD school.

I'm going to draw out my degree plan and take note of the classes i need, if i need like 2-3 classes extra i don't think it will be too much of a problem taking 1 class over the summer at a time.

Thanks again for the help.
