OK, so I was going over my submitted primary application and I realized that I did not mark down any race on it. I put down that I had spanish ethnicity but I did not put a race. In retrospect, I think that back when I submitted the app I did not know which one to mark. I am not native american, asian, black, or hawaiian so by default, should I have put down that I was white or just leave it blank as I did? By the way, I am originally from South America.
Thanks in advance.

Spanish ethnicity, meaning from Spain? Most likely the correct race would be White. You said you're originally from South America, though. If you don't see yourself as any of the other choices, you'd still be White.

The correct heading was spanish/hispanic/latino/latina. Oh well, I guess I'll have to live with that omission.
Thanks for the input tho.👍

Doesn't really matter. They'll take a look at what you put as your ethnicity and will notice that it isn't "Not Hispanic". When you take a look at the AMCAS statistics, they always break down Hispanics/Latinos into different groups. I really don't know why when you could do the same for Germans, Italians, French, and Spanish.

Oh well, best not to think too much about it.

sucks man....

friend of mine, white as the cliffs of dover, doesn't look hispanic at all, and has a german name, wrote that he is hispanic because his mother's from cuba. I was pretty sure they still considered him an URM.

Artaxerxes: I actually put down that I was hispanic, I did not put down what race tho (white, black, native, etc).
I hope that declaring that I'm hispanic is enough background info for them and the omission of the race doesn't cause any problems.

omission is probably fine, as long as you didn't put white along with it, you'll have no problem I think.

Speaking of white hispanics, another person I know, who is white, and half-asian looking stated that he's latino because he's adopted and his parents think that his mother is hispanic, but aren't sure.

cuban or other hispanic isn't URM though. i'm hope it helps not being the typical caucasian male applicant, but it isn't URM = mexican-american, mainland puerto ricans, native americans, or black
