  1. Pre-Dental
Currently I am a junior and only have about 30-40 shadowing hours in the US. I know I still have 1 semester before I apply but my spring 2010 semester is going to be very busy with schoolwork, DAT preparation, etc. I went to Thailand last summer on a dental/medical internship type of thing and did shadowing there along with some actual "bitch work" like cleaning the instruments. I was wondering if overseas shadowing counts as dental experience in the same way as US shadowing does?

Another thing is I no leadership experience at all. What could I do before I apply in June to beef this part of my application up? Thanks for the replies

It may count but that may be irrelevant unless you plan on practicing dentistry in Thailand.

I participated on 2 overseas trips as a dental assistant and used it in the volunteer category.

It's shadowing! Of course it counts as dentistry experience. Any experience within the dental field counts as dentistry experience regardless of where you gained that experience. I had a lot of dentistry experience in Jamaica and that boded well for me. Read the post on my blog about gaining experience. Should be helpful 👍

This is a "chicken and egg" line. How about BE a leader and figure something out. Don't ask others how to be a leader. Leaders TAKE INITIATIVE. Look within yourself and follow what you are passionate about and don't take the easy way out by asking people how you can "check the bow" in regards to leadership.
