Hello. I am currently in the application process to medical school.

I would like to ask a quick question. Please serious answers only, do not judge me. Thank you for your help in advance!! I also apologize if this has been asked before.

I am wondering whether I should upload my grades from my Fall Semester. Would it be suspicious if I do not, especially if I choose to (hopefully) update other things such as activities? Is this considered a red flag? Please let me know. They slightly went down this semester as I took multiple higher level science courses and I was involved in the application process and preparing for interviews and probably did not study as much as I should have... @Goro @LizzyM @gyngyn

In the one post interview update I sent, I did not include any mention of fall grades and it didn't seem to hurt me at all. If it helps you, perhaps mention it, otherwise I don't think anyone really cares if you omit them.

Are you saying you've already applied for admission into programs starting Fall 2015? Every school I was ever aware of absolutely requires you to send them your grades from the Fall if they're still waiting to make a decision on you, so I highly doubt you even have the option.

This has not been my experience. Schools I applied to only required a transcript during the primary app and then a final one upon matriculation. I guess ymmv

Not sure if it makes a difference, but I'm referring only to schools where I either was on the wait list or had interviewed but hadn't received a decision yet. Granted I'm sure it varies from school to school, but it seems to me like most schools would require all the information they can get when it comes to applicants on the waitlist or who they've interviewed but haven't given a decision to yet. I didn't update schools who I applied to but hadn't received an II from; this is because I pretty much knew I wasn't getting an interview at that point, and they likely didn't require it because they didn't care about stuff from someone they had no intention of interviewing.

Waitlist or not, this is an unusual request in my part of the country as well. If you aren't asked, it isn't obligatory to mention fall grades.

If you are in Texas, OTOH, you are obliged to send in a new transcript each term without being reminded of it.

How far of a GPA drop did you mean by "slightly?"

Thank you for your replies! Correct for 2015 admission.

@Catalystik
I was just going to tag you too in my initial post, thank you for your reply!
Down .1 on my total GPA but I received lower grades in science classes. There is an update on the portal but there is no mention of requiring grades. I just don't want to kill my chances so I don't know which is worse, leaving them in the dark about this or showing them that my grades dropped.

The first option you listed is correct. I am not in Texas. I took 3 upper level science courses that semester (17+ credits). My term GPA was less than 3.3. I know one school specifically requested it so I will send it to them but I'm not sure about others.

Your scenario is far less concerning than the others would be, but I understand your worry. Looked at in isolation, the term report could act against your interests. Looked at in aggregate with a newly calculated cGPA, I doubt it would. You aren't alone, though: it's not uncommon to see grades take a dive during interview season due to interview-related obligatory absences.

Thank you!

Would you say upload them...or omit them? I am probably leaning towards omitting them though.
