Who is the current chair of the dept of psychiatry at U of Colorado?

I have found conflicting info online listing either: James H. Shore or Robert Freedman.

Thanks!!!!!

off the top of my head I think it's Dr. Freedman. That interview was a long time ago though. I'll try to remember to dig through my folders to see.

Pretty sure it's Freedman.

Hey, another q about Colorado. At my last interview, I was told UCD Psych is getting kicked out of the hospital. I didn't see anything on the website about it. . . can anyone confirm or deny?

Thanks for the PD info -- wanted to make sure. 🙂

The closing of the inpatient ward is very concerning. Do they have another inpatient facility (a county or a VA) for the residents to train at?

They've got VA and county. Child inpatient was actually expanding IIRC.

From an email I received from a friend of mine out there:

This decision was not unexpected and follows a national trend of decreasing numbers of inpatient psychiatry beds.

UCH’s decision will in no way adversely affect the psychiatry residency or the associated faculty. The Colorado psychiatry residency, like many nationally, has recently been shifting clinical rotations from inpatient units to other settings, reflecting a change in prevailing practice patterns, the development of new treatment settings and modalities, and the decrease in the timed requirement for inpatient psychiatry in the ACGME accreditation standards.

Sounds a bit like damage control to me, no? I've heard funding was a major issue. I guess that's okay. I got a very iffy impression there, anyway.

Thing is, I read that they've known about this for months. I don't remember it being brought up in the interview.
