So I'm a transfer student and this is only my second semester at my new school. I was at my previous university for three years. I'll be here until summer of next year, but I plan on applying both MD and DO next year around that time. My question is, am I allowed to get LoR from professors at my previous uni instead of necessarily at my new one? Would this be looked down on? I have several very strong relationships with professors at the previous university. Also, I'm not sure how I would even go about getting one from a professor who teaches over 400 students. Do I just have to do well in a class to ask for one? That seems a little nonsensical, because they wouldn't really know me.

Definitely get letters from people at your previous institution if you think they'll be strong. They won't be any less beneficial just because you're no longer at that university. Transferring doesn't mean your experiences at that university are now useless.

Classes with over 400 students is tough to get a letter but usually involves office hours.

Also, normally you would have classes with less kids in the upper division classes. These are where stronger bonds are made with professors.
