What would lead you to apply numerous times? Is this numerous times per same semester or over the course of a few years?

You really can apply as many times as you want.

Without sounding too pessimistic (it did take me 3 times to get in), but after a few times of applying you really may want to take a step back and look at your application and try and figure out why you didn't get in the first few times you applied. If that means taking some time off between applications, by all means do that if you are going to help your application.
