What is this two part question all about on eras? What are the implications? I answered yes to the second question about automatic transmission? Is there any downside to this? Why would I not want this? Is there something I am missing here? Thanks for the advice.

Common advice is to say yes, no respectively to the two questions on eras. It doesn't matter either way. Most say no because they want to see the scores before sending them out--if you didn't like a new step score, you can delay programs hearing about it. It really doesn't matter in the end b/c either way programs will hear about new scores sooner or later.

ooh okay thanks🙂 and after I save the settings, what do I have to do? whenever I click on request usmle transcript it brings me back to the same page that i already saved those two settings. is there anything else i have to do?

no, a request will be sent to usmle when you apply to programs

If I took CK in late August and am planning to answer "yes, no" to the two questions about transmission, should I put on my main application that I have taken Step 2 CK and the results are pending, or should I ignore it in case I don't want to release my scores? Basically I am curious if anyone knows whether an official USMLE transcript will say that a person has attempted CK even though the score isn't back yet (because I would like my application to match the transcript).

I wondered about this too - I also took it in august and don't want to share it early on if it sucks. However, the honest answer is "yes, I took it and scores are pending" so I put it on my eras app for now - curious what others are doing....

I put down that I'm awaiting my results. I figure if my score is bad, it'll hurt me whether programs find out about it early or late. If you hide it and get an interview, but then programs find out you bombed step 2- you might not rank highly there and both your time and the program's might be wasted. But let's just stay positive and plan on doing well- the average is 233.
