OK. Seriously. I have a problem that some of you probably share: I freaking run through my applications/essays in my head, over and over, throughout the day, and I need to stop!!! What's typed is typed. What's submitted is submitted. Calm the eff down, Chitty... Just calm the eff down... :stop:

I do this a lot! Especially with my personal statement because there is this one stupid spelling error I didn't catch until after I submitted everything. It's not that big of a deal but I can't stop thinking about it!

Exactly! Or a misplaced comma! Do you know how many times I've run to my laptop to look at my essays? I keep thinking I submitted something melarchous (not a real word, I know), only to be like, "OK. Phew! Thank goodness..." But then I do it again, with some other section! HAHAHA Redonkulous :wacky:

I went over my VMCAS with my pre-vet club to show the underclassmen what it looked like the night after I submitted. I found out that I put a date wrong on one of my experiences, and it made it look like I double listed 😱
 
You guys are stressing me out! I wasn't freaking out about everything I already submitted until I read about all of you freaking out, haha. Got to go re-read every application I've submitted now 😉
 
I feel like a ton of invites/rejections are going to come closer to thanksgiving time/next week for some reason..please don't ruin my thanksgiving break!!!
 
I've been throwing myself into my thesis (my defense is tomorrow :nailbiting:), Netflix, reading, and spending time with my friends. However, I have now become obsessed with checking my email and the forums.
 
I'm finally getting some sleep! And catching up on the distance-learning course that I was kind of supposed to have finished by now... 😳 I'm still within the deadline, but cutting it close. Looks like the next several weeks will include way too many hours of monotone online lectures, on top of a full load of other classes :yawn: I will relax someday!

I am like that with crocheting... I have a scarf that i started about 5 years ago. I will do a couple of rows and then put it away.
 
Every time my phone alerts a new email, I scroll down RRRREEEEAAAAALLLL slow while holding my breath to see if it's from the Vet School or not... 🙁

If you want to learn to crochet, I made a video for my public speaking class on how to make a scarf. That depends on how bored you really are though lol

I do the same exact thing, haha! Unfortunately I applied to 7 schools, I've only heard back from one and only three send out invitations by the end of December. I feel like this is going to be the longest wait of my life.

Feel for you! It's been over a month since missouri sent out interview and rejection emails, and I am STILL waiting to hear back from them . . .:wtf:
Oh yeah, and I have recently discovered Netflix :banana:

Superstitious to the max! I've starting "seeing signs" everywhere. Last night I dreamt I got an interview invite to UPenn, then this morning while driving to buy cat food, I saw a Pennsylvania license plate. It's a sign right?!

An interesting perspective to say the least!!! I wish my dreams (when I remember them) were happy!! I think it sounds like a good sign! Best wishes of good news coming soon!

I totally agree about Netflix!! However, use it wisely!! I see it as a blessing and a curse! Great because everything is there, but gets very tempting in place of homework and once you watch all the favorites (happens faster than you think) you either rewatch or you're never satisfied!!
 
I am on a How I Met Your Mother binge on Netflix right now...for the 5th time. At this point, it's just good background noise. I blame it on not having cable.
 
Reviving this thread. At this point we're mostly either waiting to do interviews or waiting to hear back from schools.

I just spent the last half hour looking at stethoscopes online 🙄 Also, I'm pretty sure I wander into the kitchen every 30 minutes to snack or nibble on stuff out of boredom. Sigh. I'm so glad all my shows are coming back to TV. I need more things to keep me occupied the next few weeks!
 
Happy to say that classes start tomorrow and I can get back into the lab. Downside is that all my classes are at the vet school. Talk about constant reminder. 🙁 I have also bought a bunch of books and have started drawing again. Just 8 weeks...just 8...weeks. -cry-
 
My routine lately:

Eat, Sleep, Work, SDN, whine to my mom how impatient I am getting :bored:

Anyone else's life sound similar? :laugh:
 
I've, surprisingly, calmed down a lot. I still check SDN regularly (to see what's happenin' in pre-vet land), but I don't really check my email or obsess about portals anymore. I must confess that I had a bad vet-school-app-induced panic attack earlier in the cycle (in the middle of a crowded movie theater), but haven't had one since. That experience really forced me to calm the eff down.

I started reading an awesome book, "The Signature of All Things" by Elizabeth Gilbert, go to the gym, knit, date, and am trying to keep up with my TV shows. Tonight's schedule is INSANE!, btw - Downton Abbey, Girls, Shameless, The Good Wife, and True Detective...Oh, my!. Thank dog for my DVR.

This may have been a mistake, but I went ahead and tried out for my university's mainstage musical theater production, which is Spring Awakening this year. I wanted to keep myself busy when I'm not in class, because over the winter break I was freaking out so much I knew I had to find something to keep me occupied. I found out yesterday that I got cast in the ensemble, which is perfect - I'm still going to be in the show, but not in a huge role that needs lots of extra rehearsals. It's great to be really excited about this and to go to rehearsals for learning music or staging instead of sitting in my room doing class work but also stressing out about vet school. Really takes my mind off it unlike anything else.

It's going to be hell dealing with this AND classes AND interviews which makes me nervous, but at the moment I'm really happy I'm involved. Our theater department has a great director and musical director and choreographer and cast. There are so many talented kids and I can't wait.
 
I've been reading a lot; I made a goal to read 100 books this year. I think I've read 9 so far 😎
 
I've been crocheting A LOT. I've finished 3 scarves, 2 hats, a plushie doll, and a pair of gloves since the end of classes last month. I'm almost done with another scarf and I have enough yarn in my backpack for my trip to do another 3 projects. Yep, I need yarn anonymous lol.

I know right? I'm slowly going through it so I'm not that bummed, but I feel like 6 episodes with how long they are would equal a normal season of other shows.

AHH I'm in a hotel and can't get good enough internet to watch the third episode. I'm dying to see it!
I wish there were more episodes per season as well, but it's probably better that there isn't because I almost always choose Sherlock over school work...oops.

This might sound "weird" to some, but I deal with waiting by keeping relatively few people in the loop about my application. Outside of my immediate family (like parents and sibling) and my recommenders, I try not to tell lots of people.

Last year my mom told most of her friends, our neighbors, and our extended family. I didn't get in and having relatives you only see twice a year ask you if you got into vet school months after you were rejected can eat at you. Having multiple relatives bring that up multiple times in the course of one night really just salts the hell out of the wound.

Honestly, for me, this keeps a lot of the pressure off. At least I'm hoping it does this year. Someone was given orders to be quiet and respect information boundaries.

Outside of that, finishing up all of my craft/school/apartment projects takes up a good bit of time. I've begun reorganizing all of my closets. I have an unbelievable amount of clothing right now, so I'm trying to pull out things to donate or take to consignment. I like to call it "playing clothing curator."

Oh, I was talking about it would be nice if they did 6 because I feel like that would equal a normal season for any other type of show since they're an hour and a half long.

👍 I tried to do that this year. Honestly even if I got in everywhere I applied I still wouldn't want it plastered all over facebook and what not like some people do. I feel like it needs to be my decision which school I attend and if I don't get accepted somewhere then the whole world doesn't have to know.

However my brother-in-law (who never really cared about other people's plans) broke the facebook barrier :annoyed: so I've relaxed a bit and now I just tell people if they ask and I let my parents tell whoever they want, but I don't go out of my way to tell people about it other than my best friends and immediate family.

I tried this. But my mother, bless her heart, tells everyone (in her Bronx accent), "My daughter is applying to veterinary school!". And if I say anything: "Oh, stop it. You should be proud. Let me go tell this random person over here...". Then I have everyone, including her patients, asking me how its going with vet school. Can't hide with this family.

Quirky ways of handling "the wait"...hmm....looking at the calendar and feeling happy that January is almost over? Haha I must say, I'm happy that February is just days away! Seems like a lot of schools respond during that time
 
Watching House while making a stained glass window is how I handled it between August and December. lol.
