Does CVS pay out unused vacation hours after quitting?

Depends on your state rules. In California, any unused vacation days are cashed out when you leave.

Because people need jobs? Also if you found a new job, are you going to tell your new employer "yeah I'm going to need you guys to wait for me till Jan 1 kthxbye"?
 
Just a heads up the DM's at CVS all know when someone is quitting when they start using up all their days off early in the year. It's a common pattern. It probably flags in their computer.

Because those are not earned hours..only earned hours are cashed out.

If you purposely use all your hours then quit, they may just stamp "do not rehire" on your profile.

You just said any unused vacation days are cashed out when you leave. Everyone has 2-4 weeks unused vacation days starting in the beginning of the year. Now you're saying only earned hours are cashed out (which is what we said earlier - they are prorated) so which is it?

request FMLA leave of absence. it will automatically apply all unused vacation hours, PTO, and sick leave. that's about $9,000 baby. after u collect all your protected benefits, then u call it quit.

You technically accrue vacation hours with each paycheck but the company allows you to use your vacation weeks for the year any time even if you have not accrued the hours. This makes sense because you cannot roll over hours year to year, thus this makes it so that every single employee does not take off the last week of the year.
 
CVS asks you to submit vacation requests in October/November for the following year. Depending on the district, they tend to block requests of 3-4 consecutive weeks. Even 2 weeks can be a problem sometimes. If you manage to get your 4 week block approved by your scheduler to be taken in January, and you quit soon after, you might have beaten the system. However, since it is common courtesy to give 2 week notice, at least to stay re-hirable in the system, they will probably deduct any un-earned vacation time from your last pay check.

So you will get a pay out for any vacation time you earned. As was mentioned before, it is pro-rated. I left in the summer but stayed in the system and was kicked out of the system 4(?) months later due to inactivity. I thought I was all done with. However it was nice to get a goodbye PTO/vacation payout check following February.
 
i know of a staff pharmacist of 15 years with the company that got rejected when requesting 2 consecutive weeks off to travel to india for a wedding. not only cvs gives less benefits than other companies, they don't even let u use it..

Yeah thats on the DM/Sups just being dbags. If you request it far ahead of time you should be good. Doesn't matter what company you work for.
