How many of you worked full time jobs and got above a 3.5gpa?

Isn't the majority of people working part time in there undergrad?

I'm working full time right now and this last semester I got a 3.1

I did my VERY best and still barely got that 3.0+ mark.

I'm quitting my job tomorrow, just wanted some feedback.

I worked throughout my undergrad and Masters degree. I even did 500+ hours of volunteer work.

Undergrad- 3.1
Grad- 3.57

Overall sGPA- 3.2

Quit your job if you or someone else can support you. I was not the lucky one.

Yea see, those stats aren't gonna get me into state school.

If you have an option to quit take it. If a job keeps you from getting into D school you are LOSING MONEY working.

Agree!

No way im getting in with 3.1+-

I want to choose any school I want and be accepted (3.7+)

I work 45 hours a week and this semester I'm in calc and ochem etc etc it's tough, I'm out of here.

Use your savings & take out loans. Definitely worth it in the long run! Your school may also have a Tuition Payment Plan that will allow you to pay your fees in installments..might be something worth looking into!

i have a 3.8 gpa while i was working full time and taking part time classes at night (no more than 2) this is for my post bacc courses.

^^ yea it's either full time one or the other, I, for instance, would rather full time school and part time work rather then vise versa. Get out of school faster = get to higher pay and happiness in job faster.

hey do what u can! it didnt make any sense for me to quit a full time job to finish up prereqs. i would only save a year or so but i would lose a lot of money that's going to go towards my d-school tuition. plus i already have my bachelors. i wouldnt work while going for a bachelor degree.

I am in my 4th year of undergrad...I've worked 32 hours a week, with a minimum of 12 CR a semester (up to 16). My overall GPA is a 3.45....and I worked my tail off for it.

It's doable, but it's way too stressful. I suggest you quit your job, and get something part-time (that way you don't acquire a huge debt). In spring, I took a 2-month leave from work because my classes were insane, and I was studying for the DAT. I got a 3.89 that semester......so I know that working has had a negative effect on my GPA.

Nonetheless, don't forget to utilize your time wisely. I noticed that I wasn't as good about time management when I had PLENTY of time (with no job)....don't make that mistake. 😉
