I was wondering if anyone here has ever worked as a Research Assistant in another country (such as the U.K.). I recently decided to take a year or two off before applying for clinical PhD and PsyD programs, and I would be really interested in working overseas, but I didn't know if it was a viable option.
Thanks!

Unless you have a work permit or a sponsor (or are a citizen, obviously), this is not likely to happen. When you've got the PhD, it will be easier to get a job abroad.

i did it. but i was following an american PI who filed all the applicable paperwork and then we all travelled to the foreign lab.

i imagine it would be very difficult to find a RA job in a foreign country as the PI would have less complicated options in his/her home country.
