I figured I'd offend somebody and get cancelled, which would at least afford me the opportunity to up my pub number in the new radonc journal IJROVictimhood. That’s top 5 post of all time
If anyone wants to read the lawsuit, here it is, but I love when legal documents are forced to include things like this for context:

Non Profit explorer is your friend here. and yeah he diddoes he really make 750K and is tenured?
So the guy and OHSU are both being sued for his sexual harassment and assault and OHSU unwillingness to take action after her reporting it to ~6 people.
She is a social worker at the VA where he allegedly put his erection on her while she was working, and sent unsolicited sexual texts which are in the legal document. The reason she works at the VA is bc she was sexually harassed at the main campus by the ER chair who appears to have assaulted ~50 people...
She found out this resident assaulted/harassed another worker and reported both. The university did nothing. She told this Choo lady who is supposed to leads a sexual assault movement and her response was OMG what do we do omg. Then she kept interacting with the alleged. When the accuser asked her about this Choo was like I don’t need to listen to white people.
OHSU allowed the accuser to seek therapy for the assault but when she did they were like we will only pay for it if you drop the claims cause they have low money (internal surveys showed that 22% of employees have been sexually assaulted/harassed!!!)
The resident resigned and transferred to Univ Florida in lieu of being fired. Apparently OHSU did not tell Florida about what was going on. Said resident is suspended now until further notice.
Covering stuff up never leads to any good. It will come out. IMO all this twitter “wokeness” is all performative to build your career such as the case with Dr. Choo. I encourage everyone to read the lawsuit.
1) Chairman who cancels others on ROhubs for having dissenting opinions cries about being canceled and then pulls strings to get his whining published in PRO
and
2) Woke Virtue Signaling Feminist Physician Fighting Hard for #METOO is now being sued from a sexually harassed female that was ignored by her?
Is this real life? What a weekend!
The stipends are going down
The stipends are going down
this is MUCH better than UCLA in a vacuum as it doesn’t add any time until graduation
You have to do those 4 weeks either at home or away on a normal 4 yr grad schedule
if one chooses to do 4 week away rotation then 99.9% time it is self funded (still pay rent at home & at new place, etc)
Good marketing by UCSD for when students making decision to do aways (in addition to location)
Utility of doing any away rotation at this point though is separate Q entirely

This is much better for students especially ones who need to do away rotations for their field or just wanna go somewhere different (ex. East coast to west coast so need to establish connections). Usually these are targeted at URM/Low SES students which is great. A lot of “top” institutions in expensive areas have these such as UCSF ($2000), UCSD it appears, Stanford ($2000 PLUS free housing), Mayo Clinic ($2500), Penn, NYC hospitals, etc.
If one were doing a specialty where they have to do 2-3 away rotations (I find this system stupid btw) this could save a student ~4-8k as they don’t have to find expensive short term housing, have some money to pay for food, and in the case of free housing have enough money to pay for rent in their normal apt if they don’t sublet.
These posts are actually positive bc not many students know about these opportunities as sometimes they are purposely hid/hard to find to save institutions money...

its crazy for those who matched in competitive times, you had to do 2-3 away rotations. People
Dropped 15k easily not including interview expenses. For a URM with no money is this quite hard to do, basically more debt vs doing another specialty. The silly away rotation requirement is just another poll tax in this good ole boy country club specialty.
now all you need is a pulse. How times changed!

Time's Up Founder Choo Accused in Harassment Mishandling
A $45 million federal lawsuit alleges Choo and several other leaders at OHSU didn't formally report sexual harassment complaints against the 'Tik Tok Doc' Jason Campbell, MD.

This is so sad. Hypocrisy at its finest - “Do as I say, not as I do”.FYI - Jagsi is a member of this company Choo runs and part of the equity team.
Choo/Jagsi: hey…why are you complaining about a black man sexually harassing you?
Woman who was sexually harassed by TikTok doc: because he rubbed his genitals on me without consent…
Choo/Jagsi: but you’re white
Woman who was sexually harassed by TikTok doc: why does being white matter? it doesn’t matter what the race of the person is…anyone can commit sexual harassment and anyone can be sexually harassed
Woman notices that Choo/Jagsi have monetized “wokeness” through their company called “TIME'S UP" and "Equity Quotient”
Woman who was sexually harassed by TikTok doc: hey! you built a company on the principle of equity and you guys get paid to speak about making work safe, fair, and dignified for women of all kinds
Choo/Jagsi: now, listen here, you little chickensh*t…

I just saw this whole thread with lemmiwinks. Idk who this guy Tyler Seibert is, but what a tone-deaf tweet and response. So you're going to try to promote diversity by throwing money at the problem (literally)? You love your job and assume all URMs you bamboozle to go into radonc will get to sit in an ivory tower like you? Idiot.
I believe we have another member of The Erin Gillespie Club of young academic ivory tower virtue signalers who are oblivious to reality.

This is so reminiscent of pathology leadership. Cringe, denialism and autistic personalities all the way down.
There are some really cool smart, personable people in our field. There is also plenty of like people on spectrum and like total weirdos. idk if it is like that in other fields, but the concentration of weird people in our field felt higher than average at timesThis is so reminiscent of pathology leadership. Summary of Rad Onc leadership
I've always thought about it as the people in Radiation Oncology are no different than any other type of doctor or specialty, but the "problem" with us is how small we are. When you only have ~5000 total RadOncs in America, certain personalities and problems can REALLY get amplified. There are some really cool smart, personable people in our field. The small size is just one of the reasons we could use more of a visible hand guiding the job market...especially since our gigs are tied to linear accelerators which are regulated by most state governments.
But maybe that's just crazy "magical thinking" by some anonymous misanthrope, eh?
What a time we live in. One star, would not recommend.

Path is the same, also hospital based with heavy regulation. Compounding this is the dichotomy that is academics. It represents our field and while it contains the very best of pathology (researchers, people who write the books and drive the practice) it also has the very worst who can’t cut it in the real world (no examples needed).I've always thought about it as the people in Radiation Oncology are no different than any other type of doctor or specialty, but the "problem" with us is how small we are. From the spreadsheet. Adds a little more color to Tyler Seibert claims that getting good jobs in California isn't really an issue for nice residents graduating from nice programs.I just saw this whole thread with lemmiwinks. "I interviewed at 2 private practices in California (bay area and LA). One was offering a sub-300k starting salary and at meaningless "partnership" (they were very proud of calling it partnership but it was not like a partnership anywhere else) in 2-3 years the pay was dollars per professional wRVU at ~10th percentile. The senior partners made technical and salaries are likely high 6 figures. Everyone they're hiring now they tell to expect 60 hours a week and $450k/year max. The other practice was also hiring sub-300k, had a 5 year partnership track, and would not discuss any details of what that partnership looked like. Rumor is that nobody has made partner there in a long time and it's a churn and burn practice. Neither practice would pay any interview expenses, more like let's talk on phone/Zoom and if you happen to be in the area we're happy to meet with you and show you around but we have 100 applicants for these jobs so let us know if you really want the position... I went academic outside of California instead.//LOL i think i interviewed at these same places. such garbage tactics. 100% i bet they found someone too, that's the sad part. // Sounds horrendously horrible, says a med student. In bay area sub 300k after tax, you live like someone make 100K in east coast like NC, SC and Florida. Personally know someone finish IM residency and get 320K on west coast. // It seems like just a bad place to live...less pay more taxes// seriously, why anyone would take a job there under these conditions blows my mind - supply and demand I guess, and the demand for a cali job is high"
5 years to partnership 😳😳😳. In radiology it’s always 1-2 with a 35-50% salary increase.
I am scared radiology will go the way of EM with CMG/PE buying everything up but hopefully it won’t ever be as bad as that...

Spread the word to friends in all specialties. Everyone who hears about rad onc's major job issues can be someone who rightfully discourages applicants from applying into the current dumpster fire that is the field of rad onc today.
You guys are hilarious!
#MedGradWishList is now a thing apparently. People solicitating gifts for graduating medical school. I'm not sure what this is.
Schadenfreude. The field is officially the laughing stock and many somewhat love it.
As far as I can tell, it's basically geared ONLY towards URM students graduating from med school. I haven't dug much into who organized it but I think it was some of the bigger MedTwitter accounts. The only thing I've seen is someone got LIT UP for basically saying they were poor too but white so they wished they could participate but understood why they couldn't.#MedGradWishList is now a thing apparently.
