Hey guys!
Basically I wanted to post my question here b/c it'd be you guys who'd know the most about the subject. I am premed and I have decided to take 2 years off before medical school - I wanted to know 2 things:

1) DUring that time I want to become a Radiographer (2 years training). I figure if I do research w/ an MRI at a local medical school etc - it'd help me get my foot in the door to get a good radiology residency (granted I do well on everything else). Can you guys tell me how realistic this is?

2) What type of medical schools should I apply to in order to maximize chances of getting a Radiology Residency? (I heard that med schools your in prefer their own students to do their clinicals)

If you know ANYTHING I can do over the next 1 or 2 years to help me out - Please let me know!

Not very - unless you invented the x-ray radiology program directors aren't going to give a crap (not even a Hershey squirt) what you did before medical school. They are goiing to care about your board scores and how well you did on your radiology rotations.

As to which schools to apply to, well you are going to have about equal chances from any MD school and slightly worse chances (at allo residencies) from any DO school. Like I said, they mostly care about what I said above.

So unless you have other motivating reasons to wait two years to go into med school I wouldn't. On the other hand, working as a radiology tech may look good on the med school application.
