If I apply to radiology with IM as a backup, how can I apply to both categorical and prelim medicine spots? Can I apply to both at the same hospital, or is that not a good idea? Thanks.

That's tough. Best bet is to apply to prelims at community programs and IM at academic institutions. What are your stats? Radiology may be more competitive than IM but there are enough spots if you apply broadly without limiting yourself to mid to top-tier rads programs.
