Hi, first time post in radiology.
I had some questions regarding being a radiologist.
1. Lifestyle: Is it really what people crack it up to be compared to other medical doctor? I heard there are some jobs were you can work M-F 8-5 no call, of course probably with less pay? Anyone know anything about this and perhaps the pay differences between this type of job and a radiologists in say perhaps a multi or single specialty group?
2. The job: What exactly does a radiologist do all day? Read films obviously, but detailed descriptions of these tasks would be appreciated. How much patient interaction? Does the radiologist have to operate any of the equipment, or is all that left to techs? Other duties?
3. Scientific depth: This is huge for me, since I am definately geared for science, particulary chemistry and in a close second physics. How much does scientific knowledge come into play in the everyday job? Compared to other medical doctors, how would you rate the knowledge of a radiologists in different medical areas? What areas of science are most important to a radiologists? What about continued and life long learning?
I know there is a lot of questions...but I am strongly interested in radiology and would find any information useful. Thank you.
