Curious if anyone listens to music while studying for this beast? I know its likely not idea but I just cannot help myself. However, I have been listening to orchestral soundtracks as of late (inception and tron legacy mostly) as thats about as close as I can get to classical and sometimes some house or dubstep. I don't plan on taking my practice exams with the music but silence bugs me I guess!

Like I said random..

I usually play music (electronic, techno, house, trance) when I begin studying to pump me up and turn it off after a while because I focus better with it off. I have a rain storm sound track I play as well, its very calming and serene.

Sent from my HTC Incredible

I have naturescape for my iphone which is pretty sweet esp with a good set of cans. Apparently the company goes to various locations and records high quality soundscapes. The storms were my favorite for falling asleep to for a while but now I have audio osmosis for that lol! IC your running android I am not sure if they offer that app in the android market place but you should check it out.

I legitimately was like wtf is going on with my computer when I first started the track thennnnnn I discovered I am a dumby..good stuff though DLing the discography meow

I used to listen to hip hop, rock, anything while I study and then I made the realization that I would get lost in the music and it would be more of a distraction then a help. So now I only listen to really peaceful stuff with not much of a beat because it helps me relax. All I do is youtube meditation music and find one of the playlists. When I was studying for finals this is what I used and I would be able to stay focused for hours.

Psychology suggests otherwise. It is better to study without music in order to simulate testing conditions. But if in between you need it, flick it on momentarily and then switch off the music. Then again, not everyone fits the general description - this is simply what I learned in my intro psychology class.

i play mozart /classical/instrumental music in the backkground. i do it just to drain the noise of my house out and set a certain relaxing atmosphere in my office. Also i tend to study with the fan on low kinda far away from me so i get air movement and also bc the air provides noise as well, and i hate silence....

Well, I haven't started studying for the DAT, but I know I had Idioteque on repeat almost the whole time I was studying for my organic final exam. Otherwise, I would have gone crazy studying for it all day long...

👍👍 for the Tron Legacy soundtrack and Daft Punk in general - I was going to make some of the tracks my new study music 🙂

I'd recommend grooveshark.com too!

For me personally No music. Nor out of scope group studies(i dont want to know about their personal lives).

I will just listen to music during breaks or before or once i am done for the day i cool off by watching tv. I tried with music on for a day or two terrible idea for me. Cant do it.

I listen to pretty much everything when I'm studying for stuff during the regular semester - but since I've started studying for the DAT I've found it pretty distracting.

So I've resorted to this site to help drown out the noise of my dogs and my husband's video gaming. c:

Now that I am in my final month of prep I have switched back to ambient noise. I am using the naturespace app for my iphone again. It is free and comes with 6 or so high quality "environments" and you can buy more in the app however if you are a thunderstorm fan like myself I would recommended purchasing the thundergod app first which includes 6 storms which are normally prices at 2.99 a pop. The thundergod app is only 9.99 and once you purchase it the tracks will become unlocked for free download in the naturespace app.

I personally put on some pandora ( Explosions in the sky) its pretty legit... I like emancipator too though like someone above said!

I use 8tracks.com it's a great site and has actual study mixes created by people, personally i go to 'popular this month' and go from there. Also, i use a hans zimmer station on pandora. He's the guy who does a lot popular motion picture soundtracks.
