Hello. I just passed out cold at work. I woke up this morning feeling kind of crappy, and just kept feeling worse until I dropped. My co-workers were SO nice. My attending found me a bed, basically physically put me in it, went and got me some water. And then she came and checked on me and sent me home. She is going to sign out and dictate everything all by herself, and my senior is going to come over to do all the grossing. I feel really bad about that, but do truly feel terrible. I am going to go to bed now and hope to feel better when I get up.

Hello post-******! I am back to the land of the living after a fun afternoon at the cardiologist. 😉

My pacemaker wasn't capturing. :scared: :scared: :scared: So my HR was like 15-20. No wonder I felt bad, huh?

It is fixed now. I am feeling much better, but got a killer headache as soon as it got working right. Reperfusion or something. :laugh: That was a crazy feeling!

I will pay $20 to anybody who will come take out my trash. 😉

Yikes - does that have anything to do with that one wire you were telling us about? Or does that just happen with a pacemaker sometimes?

No, has nothing to do with the wire. I started taking a new medicine a little while ago that can change pacing thresholds. That is probably what happened. So my pacemaker was just doing what it always does, but the electrical properties of my heart changed such that that amount of voltage didn't cause a heartbeat anymore. So my pacemaker was pacing away but not making my heart beat.

This should NEVER happen. Obviously could have bad consequences. The voltage is turned up so high on mine now that it hurts. 🙁 But will keep capturing at least. Going to keep an eye on the thresholds.

I have a headache today that I can't get rid of. 🙁 Usually some combination of caffeine, advil, or tylenol will help but not this one. I haven't tried the migraine medicine yet because it doesn't feel like a migraine and I don't want to waste those pills.

This sucks. 😡

But on a good note - there has been LOTS of peeing in the potty today (and I'm not talking about mysef). :clap:

Yea it sucked, I hope I get the job :laugh: I got to see how catheters are manufactured - that was the only somewhat cool part. One of the interviewers asked, "What frustrates you? (open ended)" I just looked at him and I felt like saying yellow lights or something. wtf, who asks that?

on a brighter note, I might be working on an lvad project this year, which would be very cool imo. I might also be working with a project on a new antimicrobial catheter coating (my materials science professors would be so proud.) But catheters - eh, that might get a little dry.

Drink lots of water. I know a certain small percentage of my headaches are dehydration from the Texas heat. You'd be surprised at how bad that can make you feel.
