Watch it say ob/gyn is your best fit. 😉

Not quite, still kind of weird though:

Rank Specialty Score
1 radiology 43
2 neurology 43
3 dermatology 43
4 allergy & immunology 42
5 nuclear med 41
6 gastroenterology 41
7 endocrinology 40
8 urology 40

10 ophthalmology 39
11 pathology 39
12 psychiatry 38
13 general internal med 38
14 anesthesiology 38
15 radiation oncology 37

Neurology???? Allergy and immunology? *kills self* The ones I liked are 11, 12, 14, and 15.

Soooooo perhaps it was a good thing I didn't have a laptop this summer because my productivity was soooooooo increased by not having a computer to incessantly check SDN. You guys are sucking me back in. 😛 😀

At any rate I'm off to bed because I'm tired and need to be up early tomorrow to be somewhere.

I just took the specialties test (again).

1 hematology 44
2 med oncology 43
3 infectious disease 42
4 rheumatology 42
5 physical med & rehabilitation 42
6 psychiatry 41
7 neurosurgery 41
8 radiation oncology 41
9 pulmonology 40
10 nephrology 40
11 endocrinology 40
12 preventive med 40
13 thoracic surgery 40
14 neurology 40
15 obstetrics/gynecology 39

I think I can identify the things that it used to make the determinations for me. I'm comfortable talking with patients about their mortality and don't necessarily need a positive outcome to feel good... I suppose that's why the oncology-related fields are up there. I'm good with listening to patients, as well, which I suppose is how psych got so far up there.

I am most interested in #9, pulmonology, combined with critical care. Infectious disease and nephrology are also way up on my list. I'm also interested in cards, but that didn't make it to the top of the list. I'm not averse to endocrine and rheum in particular, but I don't have any special interest in them.

I have *zero* interest in oncology, though, and totally do not see myself doing any sort of surgical specialty -- neurosurgery in particular. I'm also completely uninterested in PM&R.

Interesting nonetheless. I'll be very interested in taking the AAMC one.

I just got back from the shoe store.

I felt sorry for the shoe-seller. I tried on like 10 pairs of shoes (my feet are 12.5 inches and that's not a real size) so after trying and trying, I finally found a size 13 that ran kind of small.

On the bright side, I ended up with Air Jordan's (on sale)....muhaha.

Now if only I can convince people that I can play basketball.

P.S.: I can't believe I missed all of the random fun. 🙁

How much do they pay?

Jordan's aren't cheap. 😀
-Dr. P.

I was fairly compensated. 🙂 Prep time at 7/hr, teaching at 18/hr. I enjoyed most of the experience, although I'd rather have taught bio over gen chem (there weren't any bio openings at my center).

I'd imagine it's pretty peculiar teaching verbal...especially since a lot of answers are debatable.

Teaching verbal was actually my favorite part, precisely for that reason. Being able to show people how the answers actually *do* make sense was fun.

Of course there were a few I found to be questionable. But really, maybe one or two over the whole course.

I think we've been dwelling too much on the four letter word-that-shall-not-be-spoken.

Anyway, do you think that I should keep putting "Dr.P" at the end of my posts or is it implied.

I think it's implied. But hey, whatever floats your boat!

And on that note, I'm off to bed.

Good night, Dr. P!!!

Good night, thread!

Good night, thread!

Alright, I'll take an early departure from SDN but I'll be ready to post like no other on saturday.

Night MM.

I just got out of the shower.

I have yet to take one let alone make breakfast, I'm pretty hungry. My cat got into a fight with another cat outside my window at like 6:15. Next time this other cat comes along, a baseball bat will meet it's head. Serious.

I'll be leaving my place in 23 hours and 55 minutes. Going to see SoAP?

I don't think so. I decided to go golfing. I figure that is more of a calming and meditative activity rather than going to see SLJ shout at some snakes. I'll definitely see SoaP sometime though.
