A short quiz:

In the Random Non-MCAT thread you are allowed to discuss all of the following EXCEPT:

A.) Breaststicks
B.) the MCAT
C.) cake
D.) VD

If you chose B then congrats! You are ready to begin postwhoring in the Random non-MCAT and only peripherally related to the MCAT thread - Part Quatro 😎

what do you want to specialise in Dr D?

Probably something more surgical than internal medicine related. Maybe path or anes. I worked for an ENT doc this summer (obvious enough considering my speech topic) and liked what I saw, but I have an open mind and will wait until I really hit the wards to decide.

So I'm sitting outside with my laptop watching the girls. We're going to have to go in soon - I just heard thunder!

It's nice, though. It was 95+ degrees today and it's breezy, cool, and overcast right now. Feels nice. 😀

Here's my question of the day.

Why is it that you have to know 100% without a doubt and prove to the adcoms that medicine is the right field for you, yet you can't tell them you are pretty sure which specialty you want to go into for fear of them viewing you as close-minded?

Does that seem like a contradiction to anyone else?

And yes, I ask because I am going into this feeling very strongly about one field. I am open to change if I discover I like something else more, but why is is wrong to have a preference already?

these are good questions, esp. considering your specialty of choice (if I'm remembering correctly) is one which is losing docs left and right. you'd think they'd be interested that you are so committed to a field that needs support.

Where to even being about all the BS in admissions oxeye.

Just out of curiousity, what are you so intensely interested in? Forgive me as I'm sure the answer is buried somewhere in all this randomness.

Congrats to Mushy and ironman on their respective achievements!

PW, I sympathize for you!!!

On a slightly related topic, does anyone know of a good website to go to for getting ideas for haircuts? I don't know how short I want to go but I do think I want to get at least something lopped off before I start school.

Sorry, I don't know of any off the top of my head (pun intended 😛 ). I got a trim today, and the hair dresser was obessed with long hair...I'm sure she would have wept if I told her to cut it all off

I'm not gonna kid ya, the MCAT.... it sucks.

*Commences with the "best" of "Bennifer" movie night*

Gigli... Jersey Girl... and Daredevil (so what if it's a different "ennifer"... sue me).

Oh yeah... I know how to have a good time. 😎
