Well... Yes and No.

I'm extremely economically conservative, and split between Republican and Libertarian socially. I broke away from the Republican party really after their voting base became predominantly the religious right.

Wow - you guys actually know the difference! I am not registered with any party, but consider myself more Libertarian, too. Most people really don't know what that is 😱 , so I just tell them Republican or right-wing.

I would say that the Reagan administration was a good model for right-wing government.

Wow, you guys actually care about politics?! I'm not registered at all nor do I care. The President is simply the spokesperson for the US, nothing more really. Since there is a checks and balances system in place, the President doesn't have that much power when you actually think about it. I don't vote in popularity contests and don't care who becomes president. 😀

Okay. So I had Orgo lab today from 9:30-12:20pm and I have to say that our professor ROCKS. He's a young guy and really interested in us learning the materials. He also gives out extra credit, so automatically he's tops in my book.

Physics was from 12:30-1:45p. The content is interesting to me, and the professor is a sweet old man, but really, really boring. I'm glad I sit in the front row for that class so I *have* to stay awake. There is one of those hippie-type girls in our class - you know - the one with dreadlocks that haven't been washed in the 21st century and hemp-only clothes. Oh - and on the monthly shower program. Anyway, she had on one of those anklets with the little bells and decided to constantly cross her legs and swing her feet or tap her feet. I think the professor has a high-pitched hearing loss because she was getting dirty looks from everyone but he didn't seem to notice. Anyway, she was the first one out of the classroom. I'm half tempted to say something to her on Wednesday if she wears that anklet again!

Got nothing against republicans but definitely don't like Bush. So glad to hear that you didn't vote for him.

Oh Guju...
Like Kerry Edwards would have been better.

Honestly it was the lesser of 2 evils...and even today (not being happy with Bush) I would STILL vote for him over Kerry any day. It has nothing to do with Rep/Dem...I don't vote straight party. But, even with everything...I wouldn't want John Kerry in office.

Megboo, glad you like it so far! For physics, I really didn't learn much from the book and for class, only small interesting facts and cool experiments. I learned all my stuff from doing practice problems in the book and looking over the detailed solution manual. Only time I referred to the text chapters was for equations.

Jinx!

Yes, I agree with those statements F1, but do you complain about what is going on and bitch about the person in office? If not, you are the first.

yeah, our professor really likes to use graphs, which I like, too.

It's supposed to be non-calc based, but he was explaining some things like instantaneous acceleration and velocities which correspond to tangent lines, and I remembered that stuff from calc!

True instantaneous accel would be the limit as approaching that point. That's where the calc comes in. Very basic.

We had a girl in class (who's been in some of my other classes) and she's pretty dense. Our prof was telling us the difference between speed and velocity and she just couldn't get it.

If you think about it too much, then it will confuse the heck out of you.

I told my flatmates in Belfast (both of whom voted for Kerry) that I preferred Bush in office because what I disagreed with Bush about, he had no hope of getting through Congress anyway. But what I disagreed with Kerry about he had a chance of actually passing.

In the end, I voted for the Libertarian canidate anyway because I dislike 2 party systems.

i know that we're better at fighting now... we get to the topic much faster than we used to because it's too exhausting to drag it out.

Is he a good communicator? That is the worst part of it with us. My hubby will not communicate.

Nope, I don't complain about who's in office. The President is not the sole person for the decision to go to war (ignore the "declare war" thing presidents say, it's for media more than anything now), raise taxes, reduce spending for things that affect me, etc.

If someone wants to make a difference, they'd have better luck volunteering at their local after-school programs rather than putting in a vote for some stereotypical guy. Just my 2 cents.

Not really 🙂 I have to push him a lot to deal with issues between us. He now knows that it's better to deal with it right away because he won't get any peace otherwise.

He used to try to give the silent treatment or ignore when we fought, and I ended up confiscating the TV one time until he dealt with it.

He also tried to avoid a discussion by going to the bathroom to take a shower and locked himself in (but it was something that needed to be discussed ASAP). I was so mad that I took the doorknob off but left the latch in the door so he was locked in until he dealt with it! It was a mean move, but now we deal with issues and get it over with and life is happy. :meanie:

Sweet! Mine was non-calc, too, and all the calc came back to me. Slope of x(t) = v(t). Slope of v(t) = a(t). Slope is derivative. I love it!

I agree that John Kerry was not a good candidate. Honestly, neither of them was. And I have no idea what's going to happen the next time around.

Wow, with all this politics talk, I'm realizing I must be the only Democrat in here. 😱

Kidding. 😉

I'm actually more of a libertarian than a republican as well - but I've registered as a republican so I can vote that way in the primaries.

Then I have to applaud you...most people bitch until they're blue in the face and then blame on the guy in office.

The only person who could bring me back into the republican fold is John McCain. I would have his campaign love-child. 😍

😛 Just vote for Nader - you know you want to!!!

Ok...Nader was a joke of an evil. I can't take the guy seriously. I sincerely wish I could, but...um, nope.

That being said, he is an excellent example of what more of us should do when we dislike something.

You would have to fight me for that position. I love the chicken nugget!!

Proud left-of-center independent voter. Kerry wasn't my preferred choice for the nom but I voted for him.

You may now sit in the corner with my hubby. We don't see eye to eye on politics.

Interesting. I am extremely conservative socially, and a bit more liberal (though certainly not left) economically.

I don't like the term "religious right" but that is definitely my voting mentality.
