Heeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeere's the thread!

Not sure what the Random thread is all about? Well, here's the answer to all your questions.

It's basically a restaurant. That serves breaststicks. And lots of cute fruit and veggies. And is patronized by a HO. And Tucker Carlson. Vin Diesel, too. Lots of race car drivers eat here, as well. We're very well respected by the Amish... one girl in particular is here almost all the time.

The food is great if you're low on iron. It's not on the menu, but you can ask about the special secret garlic cure home recipe. One of the hostesses often makes weather predictions, but she's not always around. I think she has another job with the government. Or a government. Something like that. One of the other hostesses says "Bitch, please," a lot, but she's joking... don't take it personally.

Forget anything you've heard about the girl who died here from arsenic poisoning. That was a long time ago, and she's still alive, anyway... just busy so she doesn't come in as much. Besides, a little arsenic adds a lot of flavor to just about any dish.

Pretty flowers by the entrance, hey? Lilis, they are. Beautiful. And the music is totally hopping... we have our very own DJ. Looks a little like Brad Pitt.

I guess that's pretty much all you need to know. I'm usually in the corner booth over there drinking a nice glass of wine. You're welcome to join me, anytime. We're open 24/7.

Congratulations to everyone who made Part 4 such a kickass thread!!!

And thank you to the ever generous, intelligent, lovely, and kind Nichole, who let me start the thread even though she won the last one. 🙂

ahh, i see. sounds like fun! i 😍 kidneys!

Me too. They are most definitely my favorite organ. 😍

I have always liked kidneys. Even way back in physiology I thought they were cool. And they are SO pretty!! Wait until you get to kidney histology, Nik. 😉

how are the senior residents like yaah? are they more relaxed? hopefully you're just going through regular internship hell beary and all will become right with the world soon. 🙂

Yeah. I talked to my senior resident (not yaah 😉 ) and he told me that the month I just got off of is hell on earth for everybody and to not even think about transferring, etc. based on that. He says that surgical path at the U (which we don't do until second year) is very different and you get treated with much more respect and there is actual teaching that occurs. 😉

they are just redundant, bloody filters. you only need 1/4 of your renal tissue to survive.... 1/4!!!! bunch of overachieving beans.

😱 OMG scent. That sounds terrible. Did you have to get a skin graft? 🙁
nope, I think I really helped things a lot by keeping it totally immersed in ice water for about 6 hours following the incident, as I was advised by our family friend who happens to be a nurse. I couldn't go to the doc until the next day b/c I was on call (as a resident assistant)...and I didn't see the need to go to the ER b/c it was only a 1st degree burn, but it sure did hurt like a biatch.

great news sweetie, i'm sure its gonna get better!

I have been extremely fortunate to have not been to many funerals. I haven't lost that many folks close to me, and pretty much avoid every funeral I can. (Not out of disrespect.)

But get this - I did lose both my maternal grandfather and paternal grandmother in the last year. My med school wouldn't let me go to the funerals without making up the days. 😡 I didn't have any days for make up-time since I was still doing core M3 clerkships right up until the week of graduation.

I didn't even mind so much missing the funerals, but would have really appreciated getting to see my grandfather before he died. Everybody else in my family came out to see him right before his death, and he got really lucid and knew everybody was there, and that I wasn't. 🙁
Oh, beary, sweetie. That sucks. I'm sooo sorry.

I wore a black top, grey skirt and red sneakers to my Grandmother's funeral. Everyone thought it was wonderful because I had her sense of humor. This weekend I stayed with a family that she had basically adopted when they first came over from India; it was the first time I could look at her picture without crying. 🙁

Me too!! JLW and megboo are ditching me tomorrow with millions of my extended family members. Something about a long drive and school work or something. :meanie: 😉

Next up on the SDN meet list for me: VD and Mr. T in October at their U Mich interviews! 👍 Oh, and Q, if she ever decides to come visit me. :meanie:
YAY  YAY  YAY

my bf thinks that the animals had been planning an attack on him for years and they finally got through.

the bull stingray spear is like a knife, stabbed him right in the heart. how freaky is that? its like only the 2nd or 3rd time in australian history a stingray has ever caused a death.

I was wondering how long it would take for someone to bring that up. I need the reassurance that I'm not the only one with a dirty mind 😀
My guy friends say I make the best your mom jokes because I'm not afraid to get completely crude with them. That's a dubious honor I think.

we really are fragile s&m, during gross anatomy I couldnt believe how we manage to live so long. we're just a bunch of mushy sacks thrown together and connected with nerves that look like really really thin spaghetti. 😱

word, spaghetti.

oh.... i love texas girls. :meanie:

have you ever watched that show on NFL network about the dolphins cheerleaders? it cracks me up every time! 😛

Fine, go ahead and just blatantly slam my favorite organ! 😡 😉

Do you have a favorite organ A-man?
FWIW, I like kidneys too. And you know why? Because they're all about chemistry. 😀 And you know what else I like? Gall bladders. Because they're green, and green is a pretty color. And bile is all about chemistry too. 😛 But you know what's not so pretty? Livers. And colons. Particularly when they've been preserved in formalin. 👎

yay!! swimming is SO great for getting in shape. it's one of my favorite things to do. i just wish i had a pool to go to...sigh!
I've been checking out the rec centers for all the schools I've interviewed with. Good pool = school moves up on the list.

Vandy has a nice pool but their rock wall is crap.

have you started gross anatomy yet?

Hey Q!!

When I changed my user title I thought about making it : QofQuimica's Sidekick

but I decided maybe that would force me to help out more in the subforum.

I 😍 gallbladders!! Those are my far my favorite organ to get to gross in. It's like Christmas, a package and you don't know what is inside. Unfortunately histologically they are super boring, and almost every diagnosis is cholecystitis +/- cholelithiasis so that's just not that interesting.

What's wrong with livers? I like livers just fine.

Colons are SO MUCH better when they are fixed. There is nothing worse than all that flabby poo covered fatty tissue. My gloves get so greasy when I do colons that I have to grab a paper towel to be able to get them off. 😱

You *should* help out more. You have a lot to contribute. All of you do. Guju used to help a lot when she wasn't so busy.
