Heeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeere's the thread!

Not sure what the Random thread is all about? Well, here's the answer to all your questions.

It's basically a restaurant. That serves breaststicks. And lots of cute fruit and veggies. And is patronized by a HO. And Tucker Carlson. Vin Diesel, too. Lots of race car drivers eat here, as well. We're very well respected by the Amish... one girl in particular is here almost all the time.

The food is great if you're low on iron. It's not on the menu, but you can ask about the special secret garlic cure home recipe. One of the hostesses often makes weather predictions, but she's not always around. I think she has another job with the government. Or a government. Something like that. One of the other hostesses says "Bitch, please," a lot, but she's joking... don't take it personally.

Forget anything you've heard about the girl who died here from arsenic poisoning. That was a long time ago, and she's still alive, anyway... just busy so she doesn't come in as much. Besides, a little arsenic adds a lot of flavor to just about any dish.

Pretty flowers by the entrance, hey? Lilis, they are. Beautiful. And the music is totally hopping... we have our very own DJ. Looks a little like Brad Pitt.

I guess that's pretty much all you need to know. I'm usually in the corner booth over there drinking a nice glass of wine. You're welcome to join me, anytime. We're open 24/7.

Congratulations to everyone who made Part 4 such a kickass thread!!!

And thank you to the ever generous, intelligent, lovely, and kind Nichole, who let me start the thread even though she won the last one. 🙂

Fine. 😡 If you people aren't going to be impressed, then I am going to call my mom and tell her. *She* will be impressed. 😛

In all seriousness, I was kind of shocked. I am a pretty slow learner if I have to memorize things. I just don't retain things I've memorized. Some of the cell bio we've been doing is seriously killing me. But I read through this once and I just knew it. I could close the book and draw the frigging thing from scratch. Did you find there were some topics you picked up like that and others you had to kill yourself just to barely get through? I feel like anatomy is about to become the bane of my existence. 🙁

i'm sure you will! 😉

there are definitely subjects you pick up faster or just retain better in med school, with me it depended on if i liked it and if it just made sense. i have to understand stuff to remember it too, i'm better at memorizing facts now that i'm in my 3rd year but its not the easiest thing to do. subjects like phys where you can understand how pulmonary hypertension can lead to heart failure are so much better than subjects like anatomy where you just have to remember the divisions of the brachial plexus and the muscles they innervate.

Of course - and when my Aggies beat the crap outta t.u. in November, you'll know it's true love. :meanie:
You know I love you, evo. Even if you are a t-sip. :meanie:

UMP: I do need pictures though. But trust me when I say you don't want to see my myspace page. That **** will give you nightmares for a month.

i kind of like it when all the prudish SDN girls aren't on... topics of conversations are a lot more interesting....

grey's anatomy 👎
whining and censorship 👎
cramping issues 👎

well... I don't want to step on any toes quite yet... I need to be over 1k, maybe even 2k, before I start doing that. But I can definitely eliminate Beary, who I think is cool..... and..... who I think is a woman 😕

And which ones would those be??

All this junk. UMP keeps avoiding it, but inquiring minds want to know. plus, it's not cool to talk smack about other randomites unless you throw it all on the table :meanie:

Ok, on that note, I need to get some sleep, because I have class tomorrow.

I want you randomites to know that I can draw the entire Krebs cycle from start to finish by heart. Seriously, every reaction, all ten steps. I didn't memorize any of them; I know all of the reactions that have to happen, and I can just go in a logical chemical order from step to step until I wind up back at oxaloacetate again like I'm solving an organic mechanism or doing a retrosynthesis. :wow: There are four oxidation steps, and naturally that is where the NADH and FADH2 get made. You pre-meds, anyone who tells you that organic chemistry is useless in med school is full of s***.

Hahaha. Yeah I don't know that I knew the organic chem that detailed when we did TCA cycle to the point of not having to memorize anything but I'd definitely see where your point comes from. I enjoyed learning the TCA cycle and Glycolysis and gluconeogenesis and eletron transport/ox phos.

That was my fav part about biochem. I didn't like the earlier stuff though. It was good for MCAT style questions (lab techniques) but it wasn't good for general biochem tests in the way they asked it at USF. Perhaps it would have been good though if it were application and passage style questions.

Yeah, I think I will like phys. Did you use a lot of mnemonics for anatomy? I find that doing them helps me memorize. It doesn't help me understand better though. 🙁 I never did figure out those things I was asking you about the other day. Hopefully I'll be enlightened tomorrow.

I think I'm feeling this way about biochem because I was really dreading having to take biochem. Everyone was telling me how much memorization it is to learn all of the pathways. So happily, to my surprise, it isn't very much memorization at all. 🙂

UMP,

Who are you talking about??? I'd like to know too??? I havent been on much in the last few days since I've been out of town and somehow I don't think it was a ref. to me anyhow. But I'd like to know what you are talking about too. That was weird cuz you don't seem like the kind to normally bash others.

oh yeah you should hear my mnemonics for the amino acids--there is no way in hell i will forget them tomorrow

Just once!?! That settles it! When are you coming to see me!?!
isn't it enough that when I went, I was in San Antonio at the beginning of August? OH.MY.GOD. I have never felt humidity like that. We were at 6 Flags and I think we were coated in sweat before we even made it to the front gate.

ummmmmmmm.. and per your mdapps, it appears you won't be coming to see me, either, so we're even 😛

Yeah - and Houston and College Station are a billion times worse. But August is just about the most miserable time to come to TX. Come to an aggie baseball game with me in March; it's beautiful!
