Heeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeere's the thread!

Not sure what the Random thread is all about? Well, here's the answer to all your questions.

It's basically a restaurant. That serves breaststicks. And lots of cute fruit and veggies. And is patronized by a HO. And Tucker Carlson. Vin Diesel, too. Lots of race car drivers eat here, as well. We're very well respected by the Amish... one girl in particular is here almost all the time.

The food is great if you're low on iron. It's not on the menu, but you can ask about the special secret garlic cure home recipe. One of the hostesses often makes weather predictions, but she's not always around. I think she has another job with the government. Or a government. Something like that. One of the other hostesses says "Bitch, please," a lot, but she's joking... don't take it personally.

Forget anything you've heard about the girl who died here from arsenic poisoning. That was a long time ago, and she's still alive, anyway... just busy so she doesn't come in as much. Besides, a little arsenic adds a lot of flavor to just about any dish.

Pretty flowers by the entrance, hey? Lilis, they are. Beautiful. And the music is totally hopping... we have our very own DJ. Looks a little like Brad Pitt.

I guess that's pretty much all you need to know. I'm usually in the corner booth over there drinking a nice glass of wine. You're welcome to join me, anytime. We're open 24/7.

Congratulations to everyone who made Part 4 such a kickass thread!!!

And thank you to the ever generous, intelligent, lovely, and kind Nichole, who let me start the thread even though she won the last one. 🙂

Not sure if you want a manual or automatic, but that generation of the Porsche has the automatic tranny option (tiptronic is the name).

Thanks for the advice folks. Ugh. It has been a solid car, but is now just starting to get old. I never had any problems with it until 2 years ago.

You are right Q - I definitely don't want it to just crap out on me at some random time. But also way feel like I can't afford a new car right now. But you are right that I should be able to get credit - I have a really good credit history.

The worst part is, I feel like I need to make this decision today or tomorrow (if I am going to put more money into this one or just put the money into a new one!)
This is a bad place to cut corners. Seriously. I'm not saying to go crazy and buy a new Mercedes or something just because you got your MD, but get yourself something reliable and relatively inexpensive like a Honda Civic or Acura. I would be worried about any young single woman driving a clunker like that, but you in particular.

shut up!! woooooo

LOL!

Actually, Lexus isn't a bad choice.

The 2001-2005 Lexus IS300 is a good car.

It uses the Toyota 2JZ-GE engine (non-turbo Toyota Supra engine) and it is very reliable. I've driven a couple and they're nice cars. $30k brand new when you could buy them, but now they're cheaper. The service departments are great, too. They sometimes even give you a loaner car if you're in for service. They came only in automatic transmission setup in 2001, but 2002+ had a manual as optional. 215hp I believe. Leather standard, CD changer, sunroof, lots of standard nice items.

Wow, I'm surprised! Thanks for the info. I didn't think I would be able to get that much. Yeah, that makes it more palatable to get able to get $1500 from it.

My folks are encouraging me to pay for the repairs now (especially the timing belt) and start saving and thinking about buying a new car. And then plan to buy relatively soon but not immediately. I may just end up doing that, because I am the type of person who likes to research something for a long time.
I hear ya. I'd probably go with the repairs myself unless I knew what I wanted.

Q is the woman!!! Another toyota or a nissan very reliable cars ... 😀

I found out late lastnight that Steve Irwin pulled the barb out of his heart before dying. 🙁 I wonder if he just left it in like they say you should do if you get stabbed by a knife. 🙁

I know--i don't know why he pulled it out. sadly it probably didn't make a difference either way🙁 🙁

Uhh... yeah. Your supplies have been very low lately. 😛

I didn't realize mushy was your supplier!

Q could probably make us some REALLY good stuff. 😉
The thought of funding my medical school education with a homegrown meth lab has certainly crossed my mind. 😛 Luckily I got the scholarship, because we already decided last night that when it comes to medical school admissions and obtaining medical licensure with felony drug convictions, the odds are probably not so good.

Hey Beary: I agree. You should really look into buying a new car. If you want advice about Toyotas I'm your woman - I've done way to much "research" (read: wasting time) on them.

I can't decide if I want to try and make my poor baby last another year or just give it a loving send off. 🙁

Dang it - so what am I supposed to do then if I don't get a scholarship? 😡 :meanie:

Aww, thanks for all the advice folks! I just read about the new Avalons, cheap Lexuses, Acuras, and Honda Accords.

What kind of car do you have?

A Jeep Laredo - I love her like a child but she's smoking and the transmission is giving me problems.

I like Honda Accords but I think I'll go for a Corolla or a Civic over an Accord/Camry - I drove an Echo and it had a miserable pathetic little engine. Same for the Yaris - you wouldn't think .3 L would make that much of a difference.

 "Fancy" by Reba just started playing in my head.

Maybe I should just find myself a sugar daddy? (or sugar momma) :meanie:
Hey, it's the oldest and most venerable profession out there. Of course, fermentation probably isn't far behind it. We haven't come very far as a species with getting a handle on our addictions and our vices, have we? 😛

Sex and Beer make life worth living. 😛

(or so I hear)

Are you encouraging me to switch career paths or just make a detour to pay for med school?

Question for you guys:

I'm registered for 19 credits this semester, with 6 of the credits being blow-off social science classes which should be easy A's... Should I just drop these, and concentrate on my other classes and save some money or should I keep taking these fluff courses to get my GPA as far over 3.05 as I can.... (these classes are a back-up plan in case I don't get in this year)

I was also thinking about teaching Kaplan, Princeton or at the new EK office they opened up around here 😍

Most I ever took was 17 credit hours, my second semester of college. It was 24 hours, though, including discussion hours and long lab (you know 1 credit hour is really 3 hours in lab). It wasn't hard work, just time consuming.

If you think you can handle it, I'd say go for it.

This morning I was going to get some cereal (cheerio's), but the box had some ants on it and also all over the cereal when I looked inside. I put it away and my brother ate some without even noticing. LOL!!! I couldn't stop laughing and he got pissed that I didn't throw it away when I first saw it.

I just dropped one of my classes (btw, language classes + online = bad idea) Partly because I felt like I had already over committed myself between tutoring, classes, volunteering and family commitments. Truth is that's a ton of hours and if you're doing lots of other things you could find yourself really stretched for time and energy. But in the end it's really up to you.

MCAT teachers rock 😍

ana- i heard you were gonna teach the GRE.... what's that all about ? did you ever actually take it ?
