Heeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeere's the thread!

Not sure what the Random thread is all about? Well, here's the answer to all your questions.

It's basically a restaurant. That serves breaststicks. And lots of cute fruit and veggies. And is patronized by a HO. And Tucker Carlson. Vin Diesel, too. Lots of race car drivers eat here, as well. We're very well respected by the Amish... one girl in particular is here almost all the time.

The food is great if you're low on iron. It's not on the menu, but you can ask about the special secret garlic cure home recipe. One of the hostesses often makes weather predictions, but she's not always around. I think she has another job with the government. Or a government. Something like that. One of the other hostesses says "Bitch, please," a lot, but she's joking... don't take it personally.

Forget anything you've heard about the girl who died here from arsenic poisoning. That was a long time ago, and she's still alive, anyway... just busy so she doesn't come in as much. Besides, a little arsenic adds a lot of flavor to just about any dish.

Pretty flowers by the entrance, hey? Lilis, they are. Beautiful. And the music is totally hopping... we have our very own DJ. Looks a little like Brad Pitt.

I guess that's pretty much all you need to know. I'm usually in the corner booth over there drinking a nice glass of wine. You're welcome to join me, anytime. We're open 24/7.

Congratulations to everyone who made Part 4 such a kickass thread!!!

And thank you to the ever generous, intelligent, lovely, and kind Nichole, who let me start the thread even though she won the last one. 🙂

Yea, but I'm using my research one as that...the grad student is pretty much my age. I hope it works. If not, then tough luck for me.
Oh ok, cool!

I have to get on my second peer LOR...I haven't yet decided who to ask. I should get on that though, b/c I have everything else in at USF.

But do you think it would be okay for me to use that? He's probably 6 years older than I am, but we were pretty cool. Always talked about sports and stuff, parties, etc. Not really like a 50 year old PhD dude that was strict about everything...

I'm so frustrated, I just called this lady back about this job interview I had and she said they are still trying to figure things out or figure out "where their needs are." Then she asks, "But you are still interested right" Why would I be calling and emailing you if I wasn't interested? 😡

I got an e-mail yesterday from USF saying I could request a secondary even though I don't have my MCAT yet (or GPA I think). Do I just reply to that e-mail?

Dude, that freakin' sucks. Man this job search crap pisses me off, too. I honestly think it will be 100x easier to get into a med school...

Do you have to know structures for TCA intermediates? Like alpha-ketogluarate? 🙂

no we don't have to know the structures--OMG the biochem prof we had today was so freakin awesome! he is an older Irish gentlemen--he sang us a TCA cycle song --it was so freakin' hilarious!! he told us he would celebrate with us irish style after the exam but he's gonna be out of town. All of my profs have been really great--instead of trying to fail us they are really trying to help everyone do well and understand the material. Our block director is so sweet--she's also gonna be director of our physiology class so I'm happy about that.

Do u think its a good idea to start writing secondaries now or wait until the school sends them to you??

I would start writing before they send them, but it depends on where you are in the application process.

I have 7 weeks til my scores so I can't submit secondaries til at least then so I'm not starting now.

If you already have your MCAT, but just waiting for you AMCAS to be verified, I'd say start now.

Glad you like it. Do you happen to have this song written down somewhere? On the course website?!

That sucks dude 🙁 Sorry to hear.

I'm almost the #1 poster. :scared:

Everyone keeps telling me the job market is so good right now. I frankly can't see it. Maybe for people with experience, but for guys like us, I don't really think it's the same...

job market over all is good, but specific industries of course is very competitive especially entry level in certain fields.

Fe - what's your major?

econ and bio are sucky for jobs. You don't have any "real" skills per se.

My friend's brother is an econ major....having a hard time as well 🙁

At UF, all business majors take the same classes except 4 upper-level for that major. So a Finance major and I take the same except I take 4 4000 level econ and they take 4 4000 finance. Not much different if you ask me. Most job stuff is from on the job training anyways...

I agree with regards to bio....unless you have a PhD or something

depends by the college too. more work experience you had in college the better. 👍

I just can't see how anyone can work in the business fields I'm looking at an enjoy it. It's all literally cubicle work writing monthly reports and presenting. Wow, talk about feeling like you accomplished something meaningful. If anything positive out of my job search thus far, it's shown me how much more I like the field of medicine.

that's not all that's out there to the business world either. There are many aspects of business such as customer service, analyzing data, selling products, etc.

I think business could totally be fun....only if I was into it too......I watch Apprentice and am amazed by these young entrepreneurs.

For the ones I'm looking at that will give me the light of day for an interview it's the case. 🙁

One of them I had an interview for had 80%+ plus traveling for auditing their labor unions. I was expected to drive my personal car all over the place, and they'd just reimburse me for fuel and some depreciation, haha!
