Heeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeere's the thread!

Not sure what the Random thread is all about? Well, here's the answer to all your questions.

It's basically a restaurant. That serves breaststicks. And lots of cute fruit and veggies. And is patronized by a HO. And Tucker Carlson. Vin Diesel, too. Lots of race car drivers eat here, as well. We're very well respected by the Amish... one girl in particular is here almost all the time.

The food is great if you're low on iron. It's not on the menu, but you can ask about the special secret garlic cure home recipe. One of the hostesses often makes weather predictions, but she's not always around. I think she has another job with the government. Or a government. Something like that. One of the other hostesses says "Bitch, please," a lot, but she's joking... don't take it personally.

Forget anything you've heard about the girl who died here from arsenic poisoning. That was a long time ago, and she's still alive, anyway... just busy so she doesn't come in as much. Besides, a little arsenic adds a lot of flavor to just about any dish.

Pretty flowers by the entrance, hey? Lilis, they are. Beautiful. And the music is totally hopping... we have our very own DJ. Looks a little like Brad Pitt.

I guess that's pretty much all you need to know. I'm usually in the corner booth over there drinking a nice glass of wine. You're welcome to join me, anytime. We're open 24/7.

Congratulations to everyone who made Part 4 such a kickass thread!!!

wow! 😱

From what I found online, that airport was shut down in Atlantic City. It was for non-jet powered planes so why this person decided to land, I have no idea. Factor in the 10mph tail wind and over 500 ft of runway unused on the landing, yea, that happens...wait til you see what happens in the water. Reminds me of the first ep of Lost.

Dam thats sick..i had one girl who drove a new red m3..it didnt work out too well..i didnt have the money to treat her the way she wanted to i showed her the door.

I don't think any girls at my school had M3s. Usually the ones with nicer cars had a regular 3 series or some ridiculous Mercedes.

The most expensive car a student ever had that I saw was the new M5. He lived in my apt and parked it outside. Black on black, looked sick.

I think you can tell by the car she drives. If it's a pos, she doesn't care about money or materialistic things. The ones that have a Mercedes G500 (I'm serious) are the ones I avoid. There are actually a few girls with this back at my old school. Some girl had a CL55 AMG 😱

LOL. And what about a bicycle?

Even better than having a car 👍 😛

Hey, at least you don't have to worry about gas prices or insurance, which is already too high.

Edit: Wait a sec, this is a trick question. We're not talking about $5k road bike, Lance Armstrong style are we?

No, a $50 gently used bike. If I did have 5K to spend, it would be on a car, not a roadbike. I miss driving a car every now and then, but I don't need one and I don't miss the associated expenses

How far do you have to commute if you don't mind me asking? What about with bad weather conditions? Snow?

i could have a lil poochie at this apt if i wanted to.....but it would be neglected and sad so i'll have to pass

I figured you'd want a cat. They're pretty much independent and you can't really neglect them. As long as you feed them, they'll find something to do by themself...

I have a house, but no pets. I would sort of like to have a pet, but would have to get something like fish. I think about it now and again but always end up deciding against it.

beary--at a university near here they gave away a bunch of goldfish to ppl living in the residence halls......those poor poor fish--i'm sure half of them didn't make it out of the plastic bags.

I saw the saddest thing on Animal Planet tonight. A pet store owner who didn't care for the animals and just let them die in the cages 🙁 It breaks my heart

😱 🙁

I had fish when I was in college in Montreal. You guys will laugh but seriously I was so sad when they died (I had 2 - Charley and Jeffrey). Before Charley died, he turned white and got blind or something and kept swimming into the wall of his bowl. It made me so sad.

72 hours? y were are u now?

I'm at work this week. My dog lives with my folks. I'm taking vacation next week and spending it with my folks, so am driving down Friday night. 😀

This actually is sort of a scary thought of how much work I have to do to get ready before then. I need to go through my boxes of stuff for my niece and select some appropriate gifts. 😍

did Agasi win?? I watched little bits of the game here and there. Last I saw they were in the 4th set

omg beary i used have siamese fighting fish when i was little--i could usually keep them alive for about a year or 2......then i would bury them!

That's what mine were!! They each lived for about a year. Not at the same time. I had Charley first, then got Jeffrey after he died. Really beautiful fish.

I lived in smack downtown Montreal (was at McGill at the time) so had no place to bury them. Poor guys got flushed.

Here is Molly's mostly unsolicited and extremely biased opinion on marriage, especially for you young'uns out there:

I have never known anyone to lament the fact that they got married too late in their relationship. The words, "Oh, things would have been so much better had we just been married two years earlier!!!!" have not passed the lips of anyone I know.

Contrariwise, I do not have one friend that was married before the age of 25 that is still married to that person today (n is roughly 10 or so, I haven't kept perfect track). I myself am exhibit A for the problems that can come from an early marriage. My friends who married later, however, have pretty good track records.

Obviously, people can marry young and do very well -- I'm certainly not trying to imply that it is impossible, or even terribly unlikely. But, honestly, I think that if there is a smidgen of doubt in your head... if there is even one factor that would prompt you to consider waiting... and especially if friends, loved ones, or family members are urging you to reconsider... it is wise to wait. Ask yourself what you have to lose by waiting... if the person truly loves you, you won't really be losing anything at all.

Believe you me, being divorced before the age of 24 is not something I would wish on anyone.

As I said, this is highly biased, and take it for what it's worth. 🙂

I have spent $200 on my niece in the last week. 😱 😎

There is nothing I would rather do with my money. 😍

After all, she thinks books come from Aunt Beary, not the bookstore or the library. 😉

This is great advice

I didn't know you were married Molly! Sorry it didn't work out 🙁

Woot!

I got my MCAT schedule to work on my blog! I had to use Google calendar, and you have to register with Google to view it, but it's up! Google is a pretty decent site to trust.

So there you go Mushy and RAD11!!!!!!!!!! (and anyone else interested!)

Hi Meg! I have been looking for a good calendar to use online that I can access anywhere so I don't have to carry a book around. I have a gmail. Do you know if it will send you reminders and stuff? I haven't really set up a good calendar yet here and am already missing stuff because I am so spacey.

what do u think is a good age to get married??
It's hard to say. I think it varies tremendously with the individual and his or her life circumstances.

(And, btw, I was only referring to offline friends... I know there are some Randomites with wonderful marriages who probably have very different points of view!)

Hi beary!

Yep, you can set reminders when you add events. It's a lot like Outlook just web-based - you should take a look at it!

I don't think there is a "right" age. I have never been married, or even in a really serious relationship for that matter, so take my thoughts about this with a big grain of salt. I have had the opposite personal experience than Molly in terms of friends - I have friends that got married when they were 18/19/20 who are still very happily married 10-15 years later.

My thoughts are that, if you have found the right woman for you, get married when you are ready. Don't let med school stand in your way, because your career can always take over your life. Residency is not any easier than med school - if anything it is worse in terms of hours away from home. And I think when you are a "young" attending, putting you in your 30s at least, things are still very demanding as you are getting used to total independence, starting a practice or academic career, whatever. I am 28 and a resident, but if I find a man who I love and I think is "right" I will get married very quickly and not wait.

I guess I was under the assumption of undergrad girls that aren't 100% independent 🙂

I wish I had a house 🙁

Beary wins again! 🙂
undergrad girls might not be independent, but they're also not undergrad girls forever. wait it out. 🙂

house + car + self-employed 😉
