hey--you're from cali--i was born there! anywho--oh yeah toledo is just a load of fun 😴 . The weather is not that bad right now--actually the leaves are turning and it is insanely beautiful this time of year. It's been in the mid-60's this week. Usually around the beginning of November is when it starts getting pretty cold and it's snowing by Thanksgiving. Toledo is so close to the lake--during the winter they get blasted with snow and it does get so cold--i have to tell you winters here can get really depressing and they seem neverending. I've never been to Medical University of Ohio--but I've heard great things about it!! good luck in your interview! :luck:

yeah--i know what you're saying! I lived in Florida for about 8 yrs over by cocoa beach/merritt island. so many bugs--it totally grosses me out to think about it. Although, we could see the space shuttles launching from our backyard which was sweet.

sorry--it was the foam pieces 🙁 but don't worry they are spending gazillions of $$ coming up with a new vehicle so someday you will get to see it
I wish we would scrap that crap and do something not wasteful. I think if there were a huge vote we'd all decide to rebuild NOLA instead of running 1 shuttle mission.

no kidding--it makes me sick. HELLO! what about the earthquake/hurricane victims? what about AIDS? what about American families living in poverty? we have got too many problems down here on earth. ok i am going to bed now 'cause i have a feeling tomorrow is going to be a very long day.

you sound like one of my med school interviewers, he turned the interview into a congressional hearing on NASA and I was NASA

interviewer: why are we spending billions of dollars on a government agency that killed 7 astronauts and didnt hold anyone accountable for their deaths? why should we entrust these same people with billions more for mars?

me: because its human nature to explore and do whats never been done, to push ourselves and our limits.

interviewer: well we've never cured cancer before either, so why isnt that enough of a challenge?

me: ok..... *thinking wtf is this guys problem and what a waste of money to come interview at this place*

sorry--it's not like i think we should just do away with NASA (duh) but our first priority should be helping to take better care of our people. what the hell does NASA have to do with determining whether you are a good candidate. they didn't "kill" seven astronauts-what a '****.

that guy was such an ass, those were his exact words about killing the astronauts. i interviewed at a bunch of schools and he was my only "stress interview". i talked to someone else in my group that interviewed with him and that guy said that he had put him in exactly the same spot.

the interviewer was a phd, nothing agaisnt phd's but i think med schools should use MDs to interview MD candidates. hello........ it makes no sense to use phds but at least half the interviewers are phds instead of MDs. When i was interviewing i just figured those guys would be our instructors for the basic sciences like physiology, etc... which would make it ok since these people have close contact with med students, but NO. the majority are just researchers at the med schools who asked to be interviewers and have no teaching contact with med students. 😕

well, as i was interviewing for a b.s./m.d. program (3 different interviews), i had a lady with crossed eyes who told me that more women are needed in research and why don't i go into research? and then why don't i go into social work? and then some doctor asked a 17 yr. old me if i would help a patient commit suicide--my exact words were "well, i don't know--i wouldn't really want to kill them" *snort*

welcome to Houston; there's nothing like walking around campus August and September with grease dripping off your face, and now it is 86-clear skies, but at least the humidity is down.

Good luck with your exam that you have on the 23rd any others that may be in between.

Yeah, I realize that, but we were talking about it yesterday and we were wondering if you had a day in January some time when you'll have more then an hour, cuz we were not sure if we'd be able to see the entire campus in an hour.

If you do have such a day in spring beginning, will you let me know?? Thanks a bunch. You the best.

Maybe I'll finally get to meet you.

Do you want to switch places? It is cold and rainy here in the winter. In the summer it gets hotter, but the ocean water is still 55F.

In Oregon there are assisted suicide laws. All of the healthcare providers are exempted from participation if they choose, except for the pharmacist (WTF!?). If I worked there, I would fill one if the legal requirements had been met. I may as well take the burden off of someone who would go into some moral issue spaz attack about it. That would be a bitch of a counsel, though. ****, if someone has a terminal illness and wants to skip the drawn out agony portion, let them. Maybe I'm just biased because I watched my dad deteriorate in a very drawn out way. There are just some times when the rest of one's life is doomed to be the antithesis of quality. If someone wants to be empowered to end their life at or just before that stage, I'd rather they do it together with the medical staff than on their own in the garage with a 12 gauge shotgun. And, I'd rather they go how they want to instead of in sesspool of misery. Hm. I guess I am in favor of assisted suicide. Still, I don't have a problem with other medical personnel opting out.
