I find that I poke fun at nutty cat owners until I realise... I'm a nutty cat owner. :banana: To be fair, though, if I had your dog, I'd probably be obsessed too. With that face, how could you not be?! Too cute.

Its okay I'm obsessed with my cats people at work think in very strange because they are all dog people.

Im also mildly obsessed with my horse, he has EVERYTHING a horse, well really his owner could want.
 
Also, I'm not sure what to do about my job. I don't really like being there, but at least it counts as vet experience. But I'm very unhappy.

There's a dog boarding place that is hiring right now. And they're opening another one about 5 minutes from my house over the summer. There's potential of better pay eventually and better hours. I'd be able to bring my dog to work. They want a 1-year commitment though. Is it ok to do that even if it's not vet experience? I have a bad GPA and need to make up for that in experience. But I also only have a rec letter from my advisor so far. I don't want my current boss to write one because we don't get along so well. So working for the boarding place at least gives me another chance at a potential letter..

(I'm applying in the fall if that helps..)

Yeah the horse thing is really bad... mine is super sweet and my therapy (like in a big way). And on top of it, he has been my partner to national championship titles...

Nothing like your best friend/pet/teammate/major investment being sick. Brings out the crazy big time. He had cancer and when he was at the University I camped out for two entire days in the waiting room.... and made them let me check on him every few hours... including the middle of the night.

I was absolutely convinced when the surgery took an hour longer than planned that he was dead and they were teaching the students how to tell me. And then he is super cautious and took almost two hours to stand. God forbid I ever have children....

Holy crap, you're applying already?!

I think the best solution is to find something entirely different. I think that vet experience hours are the most important (especially if your hours are limited or you need to make that chunk of the app look better) but you don't want to have to ask for an eLOR from someone you don't think will write you an amazing one. Not sure how your LA hours (or something non-SA) look, but it may be worth boosting those. Maybe you can work part-time at the kennel for the pay?

Hehe, Yea I am. It's a year early though. So I'm not surprised that you're surprised. 🙂

My current job is at the vet school and it's about 850 hours both small and large animal. And I have large animal shadowing there (about 100 hours) and small animal shadowing in Germany (31 hours). I'm probably doing research with one of the LA vets this summer. She taught part of my class last semester and I shadowed her a little. I would love to get a letter from her. She's kind of who I want to be.

I want to work at the kennel mainly for the money and better hours. I'm still planning on shadowing at a vet clinic near my house and the vet school to work on my hours.

Makes more sense then! I was like has it really been that long already😱

It sounds like you're getting good hours and if you do the research I think it would make you really well-rounded! The more vet hours the better, but if you aren't happy where you are and you'll get better pay at the kennel, I don't see why not.

I did research last semester as well with pigs, which was pretty awesome. This summer will hopefully be with calves/cattle and next semester there might be something with an Anesthesiologist. 🙂

And that's what I was mostly thinking but I wanted to get someone else's opinion. 🙂

I practically leap in front of the other tech I work with to assist with cat appointments. It's a little embarrassing. Even if it's a growling, hissing, I-want-to-eat-you-alive cat. My co-worker recently learned she has a mild allergy to cats though so I can use that as an excuse too! :laugh:

Ditto! Except Im the one with the MAJOR cat allergy, oh well that's what medication is for!

A couple of snowbirds that are my parents are super grumpy about it. :laugh:

When it snowed a few years ago in Las Vegas, I got snow in July. Let's hope this isn't one of those years....:xf:
 
We had to de-ice a couple newborn calves at the clinic. They're very cute as they get rubbed down after hot tub time 🙂

Applied to an emergency veterinary clinic (as a volunteer/for free work) who's wanting someone to start as soon as I graduate. I doubt I'll get it because I've only recently begun being trained at a SA clinic, but it's my dream to work in emergency so I figured the worst that happens is they say no or I don't get a call. Won't lie and say I'm not hoping they call though. 😛
 
Planning a trip to Perry to have Ivy do some lure coursing in April. 😍

Got my feet wet with ER med....you either love it or you hate it. I loved it! I don't do it anymore but have 5 years of ER experience.

I'm SOOOOO glad I ordered the purse! It came in the mail today, and Omg is it beautiful!! Best vet school acceptance/ graduation present to myself ever!!

but I seriously just learned yesterday that it can thunder when it snows....I am such a stupid floridian that I never even thought of that possibility and didnt believe it! :laugh:

That's ok, I'm so dumb about snow, when I moved to NY two years ago (from FL), and it snowed for 8 days straight, I just figured it snows non-stop every day of winter :smack:
When I asked my SO if it snows everyday until March he just stared at me :lame:

its called Parchment. I initially wanted the coral, but was afraid of it matching ( or lack of matching lol) then I decided black, but then I was afraid of looking like a grandma.. Then on a whim I just said, ok then, ill just try white, it will pretty much go with anything. I am SOOO glad I did! it is so pretty!!! best thing is that its a cross body bag.. I 😍 cross body bags 😀

Thank you. I'll probably follow-up with a phone call if I don't hear from them. I'm ridiculously excited about the possibility. I have been fascinated with emergency medicine, human and animal, since a very young age and it is what I hope to go into to start out my career if I can swing it. 😛 I imagine I'll be dancing around in the rave thread if I get it... :laugh:

Hahah. When I was younger I was under the same impression. Don't feel bad. Everyone else must think us Florida folk are a special breed...sigh.



I remember when a few cousins came down to visit from Michigan and they saw their first anole lizard. Lots of screaming and carrying on.

My whole family is in Ohio. My cousin came down to visit and thought our Subways only have fish sandwiches :laugh:
And growing up with lizards (and cockroaches), you don't realize they don't exist everywhere. I missed lizards when I moved. 😳

I don't always get to see the sunrise on a Saturday morning, but when I do...it's because my dog decides that she needs to go out NOW and then just stands there and gazes noble-ly out across the snowy fields :smack: Stay thirsty, my friends.

And now I need to study. Boo.
 
I have 6 cats and 4 dogs (plus a foster), a bird, and a guinea pig. What does that make me??

i dont think they dont exist in a certain place, but there are places where you dont care about them because there are other worse and scary things haha

for example here in grenada, we have cockroaches and gigantic centipedes. guess which one i'm afraid of 😉 also, my rule for bugs has become if you dont bite me then i'm willing to ignore your presence:laugh:
